liner33
A weasel would certainly have a go at a woodpecker if it was on the ground , I've seen one kill a full grown rabbit

Rich
When I lived at home a woman down the next road had Ferrets, she would walk them on a lead or put them in her basket on the bike!

Tony
Those who know me know i have a fascination about thunderstorms. This image displays the true power and majesty cocooned in nothing more than water and air.... Â Â
Rich
That looks like a powerful storm! Makes you thankful we don't get them like that over here, must be horrible when one hits and rips your home to shreds
Tony
It's called a super cell formed by the rotation of the Earth and rising hot air. We do have them in the UK but nothing like this scale.
Rich
I think most of ours are also out at sea so we rarely see them anyway.
Tony
There's more convection on land but the UK's land mass is to small to generate big super cells unless it's really really hot and humid.
Tony
Malathions clouds one of natures rare beauties normally spawn from severe thunderstorms. Â Â

Sagitar
Can you provide any further references Tony - I'm interested to know where this comes from. As far as I am aware, malathion is a kind of pesticide that was banned in the UK and the EU some time ago. However, I think that in the US and Canada it may still be used to kill fruit flies and other pests on major fruit crops - dispensing the pesticide over wide areas from helicopters. Is it just coincidence that this cloud formation has a similar name, or is there some connection?
Rich
Good questions, I tried Googling these clouds but all it came back with was chemicals! If this photo is genuine then I assume it's been caused by man with this pesticide rather than by nature itself.
