Looks good Barrie, how did it go at the Toyota Sprint Series ?

it went ok, it ran perfect all day , boost was down so no quick times

but i was more than happy that it was running

Is the new engine in then ?

no

no time to do it, that and the fact i need a rest from long evenings and weekends in the garage ;)

the spare engine is running fine so no rush

i am looking at changing the turbo again, Garrett ball bearing ! waiting for final testing to be carried out by Fensport, then i will swap engine and turbo at the same time

onward we go looking for 280 bhp now

with a 6 week break between sprint events ir seemed the ideal time to do those little things ive been putting off :thumbsup_anim:

saturday afternoon it looked like this

funny the picture seems familiar somewhat :D

with the engine out it was time to swap over the gearbox, clutch, and all ancillary items over, all on to the rebuilt forged engine

by sunday afternoon it looked like this

that just leaves reconnecting the wiring, plumbing, to do

and of course the new turbo, manifold and the pain of the job getting it all piped up, ....no nothing lines up !

here is the little bugger, TD04 as fitted originally to the scooby's

needed a 10mm banjo bolt for the turbo oil feed

without it the turbo couldn't be fitted which basically holds everything up

after scouting round the local suppliers with no luck, we ended up spending the afternoon down the scrappies

after searching through about 50 cars we found one, came from the auto box oil cooler on a diahatsu thingy !

8mm there are plenty, 12mm there are plenty, yet a measily 10mm was like rocking horse poo

left the yard covered in oil, power steering fluid, coolant, and god knows what else !

turbo is now sitting proudly where it should

just another day almost lost

i didnt think trying to run it in on the trailer would be the best way :)

its all steady driving for the next 1000 miles, so my only competition is the bicycles :)

have always kept it insured, it needed an MOT for the sprint series, so it was only a matter of getting it taxed

£66 for 6 months , cash it back in once the running in period is over :)
