thought a few here might be interested in my Toyota GT turbo and its progression over the last 18 months

car was brought from an importer and had arrived fresh from Japan

started off as a very standard 1.3 turbo running a factory 130 bhp (fly figures)

standard boost was switchable between 0.3 and 0.6 bar

the first stage saw :

WEPR 2.5" stainless exhaust (additional silencer has now been fitted due to being blooming loud)

WEPR decatted downpipe

Supra fuel pump

Sard fuel regulator

HKS fcd

on a dyno run at Janspeed, power at the wheels recorded at 130bhp and 122 ft/lb torque

second stage saw the handling sorted :

D2 fully adjustable coilovers

White line anti lift plates

Whiteline camber bushes

Whiteline adjustable panhard rod

Cusco rear strut brace

Cusco ARB (front)

And the all important geometry set up by W.I.M

Third stage saw rubber :

the original 14" wheels being shod with toyo r888`s

a new set of 15" wheels shod with toyo t1r`s

fourth stage moved to the interior :

HKS boost gauge

HKS water temp gauge

Greddy egt gauge

Greddy oil temp gauge

Greddy oil pressure gauge

HKS turbo timer

Corbeau bucket seats

Willans harnesses

partial (if its not needed strip it) strip out

air con removed

Roll cage (1/2)

Momo leather steering wheel

Quick shift lever

fifth stage saw:

HKS actuator

Greddy e-manage

WEPR front mount intercooler

Bailey dump valve

8.5mm Magnecor leads

NGK iridium plugs

Apexi

Excedy organic clutch

Replacement of air and water pipework with silicone

Civic type R radiator

mapped to run at 1 bar

Dyno run by TDI, power at wheels recorded at 159bhp and 160 ft/lb torque

All running nicely :crying_anim02:

trips around the Nurburgring, and Santa Pod where it was running 14`s

then i got bored !!

sixth stage begins :

Hybrid ct20 turbo

WEPR Freeflow manifold

External wastegate (0.95 bar)

WEPR Downpipe

WEPR Screamer pipe

Serck oil cooler and filter relocator

WEPR radiator

Sard thermostat

HKS blow off valve

HKS EVC boost controller

Braided brake lines

Mintex 1144 pads

3g groovy discs

Fog lights removed !!

Over exuburance with flourescant green paint !

Presently residing at TDI for removal of Greddy E-manage and the fitment of HKS f-con

and awaiting further details ;)

Blimey.... You've morphed the car into a bullet. It must be incredibly rewarding to do this since i know most of the fitting you do yourself.... I won't ask a monetary value for all the extras but i will ask how much time do you think has been volunteered?

I must admit it is and has been very rewarding, I am not a mechanic so everything has been a learning process

from the start i wanted to do everything myself, the complete opposite to the lexus project

it started of as a cheap project, but as allways costs and dreams escalate somewhat out of control, :crying_anim02:

the joy is wanting to do things rather than having to, its great when theres no timescale and no rush

the best part of it all is when someone passes a compliment, i tend to grin from ear to ear (thanks mat) ;)

I think your past example with the sexy Lexy has proved your abilities.... Being best car in the shows and displayed in the mags is quite an achievement and well justified in my opinion.

:crying_anim02: .......im grinning again ;)

Work has started on removing the old Emanage engine management system

post-60-1177591014.jpg

Makes me nervous looking at all those wires...... Something of a birds nest methinks!... I must confess when i was at tdi there was a car with wires allover the place and Mark said this will be running this afternoon.... To my non-educated mind i thought 'no way' .............. Wrong it was a done deal later that day! Needless to say i was impressed but don't tell Mark that...

What does a scramble trigger button do?

It compares the letters you've got against a dictionary and gives you the highest scoring word.

Oh wait, that's a scrabble trigger :thumbsup_anim:

What does a scramble trigger button do?

It provides higher boost pressure for a predetermined length of time :ph34r_anim:

Thanks for that. Sounds like something an X-wing from Star Wars would have.

Press the button and it sends a signal to everyone in the convoy to go in a random direction.

I would have thought something like overboost would be a good name for it. I think thats what Saab call it on their HOT models. Extra boost for 20 secconds iirc.

I have to agree 'Scramble button' does read into insignificance compared with 'Overboost' may as well call the scramble a 'Dump blocker'. ......... Whatever the name, performance is the key, so Mr Bond we await the application of the 'Scramble button'

The Starlet is running on the new FCON today.

We have some tidying up and some minor issues to deal with, then it should be on the Rototest tomorrow :D

Excellent news Mark ;)

Does this mean Barrie won't be doing the gardening this weekend ;) Since the car has been away he has discovered he has green fingers (and thats not just because he has a cold :graduated: )
