Tony
NSF Castor adjuster OSF Castor adjuster Entire subframe There's something very wrong here, do you know what it is?
SMARTLY
Are those bits on the wrong side?
phipck
those bolts look identical but should be a mirror image of each other, causing no end of terrible geometry stuff (thats as technical as i can be this eve )
adam_r
one adjuster is all the way forward and the other is all the way back giving a very weird angle(do you call it wash or something. i presume this in turn twists the alingment to one side of the car causing some very funky handling! Rich
The NSF bolt is the opposite of what it should be?
liner33
Where is the anti roll bar??
Tony
Your almost there other than the reason why the adjusters are in the position they are
adam_r
I think i may have spotted it..... not sure i believe my eyes though.... is that subframe fitted incorrectly / damaged ? it looks like it is / has twisted towards the front nearside. Larger gap at the back of the subframe on the back right (offside) than the back left (nearside).
scorps
N/S/F is a cut n shut....?
Tango
Looks like the near side front has been jacked up, distorting the subframe
Tony
Ok, out of your misery.. NSF has suffered some trauma, exactly what is impossible to say, nevertheless an impact on the NSF has moved the subframe back. The castor adjusters are NSF as far forward as possible and OSF as far back as possible. On another car this would be end of days but thanks to the MX5's over engineered adjusters we were able to compensate for the displacement. Rich
Shouldn't the subframe be repaired properly though, is it safe if it's been moved?
Tony
It's not possible to move it back because it's bent. Since this car is adjustable, correcting around the bend is safe.
Rich
So surely the best thing to do is replace the bent subframe? Won't this put stress on other suspension parts, even if the whole chassis is adjustable.
