Rich
I agreed to the sale last Friday after another test drive and collected the car on the Saturday morning. Did around 30 miles in it and I love it. It's a completely different car compared to the Corolla, not just in size but the engine as well. It is very smooth when it accelerates although being on standard suspension it does roll abit in the corners. The car is on just under 98k miles and it has full Honda history up until last July when the 100k mile service was done at 94k miles. So all I need to do is an oil change, the rest should hopefully be fine. Last year it also had both upper wishbones replaced and a lower arm bush. The MOT was done a week ago with an advisory for slight play in one of the drop links so that's a job for next year. I even have the receipt for the original debit card payment for the car, £20,700! The first issue to address is the battery, I knew it was knackered but it's going flat overnight so I'm ordering a new one today. The rear tyres could ideally do with replacing, especially with the bad weather here but I'm debating whether to buy some 16" alloys and stick some winter tyres on. The tread left on the rear will do me for next summer and I can replace them the year after then. It's just a matter of whether I can find some cheap alloys in the next week or 2. This is the only photo I have so far, will get some more soon
Tony
That's a stunner, well done fella i envy you...... If all you have to do is get a battery and some tyres then in truth it's happy days. One question though, did they say why the car was for sale? Rich
I bought it from a trader so they wouldn't of known why the last owner sold. Maybe they wanted to get the newer model, needed a diesel, a different car although, couldn't afford to run it or got a company car. Just cos someone is selling doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with it.
Tony
Don't get me wrong it's just a question i would ask..... Same as my house, i would expect people to ask if it's so good why are you selling it? I think you have made a great choice mate, the Honda is bullet proof and you seem to have bought a really good one, so good on you.
JamesV70R
When I was selling my old car one of the guys who came to view it kept asking "So why are you selling it?" ... He wouldn't accept that I'd bought a newer car to replace it. He then proceded to try and offer me £500 when I'd already had an offer of £750. Can you tell which offer I took? Good looking car Rich, will keep my eyes open for ya' ! James

Even if something is good people like change, nothing wrong with that. Once I've got the battery fitted I'll see if I can get the geo sorted on Thursday. Do the adjusters seize on these cars? Knocking a 1/3 off the price is taking the mickey!! Don't look at the paint in the sun, it's abit swirly!!

Tony
Oh yes...... The Mondeo adjusters were...... Well were pants!..... The Honda has much more direct adjusters that offer a specific area and great range.

Rich
Rich.. dont ever insult the accord by remotely comapring in to a mondeo! excuse me while I go and wash my mouth out The Mondeo wasn't that bad, I had it for 6 years but adjusters for Jap cars do seem to be alot better than those for Fords! Rich
Cheers mate, the more I look at it the more I am loving the car. I wasn't a fan of the rear when I first saw them but it's growing on me now. I got in the Ibiza this morning and it wouldn't start - again!! I was going to jump start it but thought I'd try the Accord and although it struggled it started first time. I've not used it since Sunday evening. Hopefully there is enough charge in the battery to get me home but I have some jump leads and my tool box in case there isn't. If the battery arrives today I can get the missus to bring it over to work. The whole car was frosty so I put both the screens on and wing mirrors while I did the side windows and they were clear by the time I had finished - loving that! adam_r
did you use the heated seats too? they heat up in no time and are oh so toasty! one thing you need to try is turning on the passanger heated seat without your passanger clocking on to it..... they will sit there after a while and start shuffling about, and wondering WTF is going on
Rich
Yes I used that as well, was abit chilly this morning I've done that trick in the Civic! I've also got in the passenger side when someone has left it on and had to promptly turn it off! The Accord ones are hotter though.
Steve-O
nice one Rich - i like that shape and was looking at these before we opted for the audi. Are you going to give it a go over with your detailing gear
Rich
I do prefer this shape to the newer 8th Gen, I also quite like the 6th Gen Accord but wanted something abit newer. It will probably just get a wash for now, I don't fancy being outside in the cold polishing it given the size! It is very clean though, a few marks here and there as to be expected but it's mainly the swirls that need sorting.
adam_r
you want to stay away from the 8th gen tourer... the boot is tiny . I was looking at a 2.0 petrol tourer but upon opening the boot I got a huge shock.. the 7th gen boot is cavernous as it has a different suspension setup... Rich
Yeah someone posted a photo on here of the tourer boot on the 8th gen, it's hatchback size!
Rich
Balls - they attempted delivery of my battery, no one in!
Rich
Took the battery out to charge and it's 40ah, it should be 45ah so not sure how much of a difference that makes?
