liner33
Another little video. I don't make a habit of publishing every little mistake I see but this is what puts me off organised car events, this was on the way back from Goodwood after the Sunday service Good awareness from the Merc driver, cancelling his overtake and taking avoiding action to save from being hit by the Porsche. It was closer IRL than it looks here
Viking
That's the big problem with dashcam footage. What looks like a very close call to the naked eye looks very indifferent when a video gets viewed. Still, it's as good as can be expected really. Is there any reason why your footage is smaller than the Youtube window btw?
liner33
Dunno it was probably the way it was edited by movie maker
Tony
A legal overtake other than the speed...... I think he was having a little willy moment
NickT
A legal overtake other than the speed...... I think he was having a little willy moment It explains driving the Porsche then
liner33
A legal overtake other than the speed...... I think he was having a little willy moment Apart from overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic and avoiding a head on by a second
liner33
Caught this cracker this morning on the way to Japfest , the guy was very keen to demonstrate to me the power of his Supra. I did go back and check on them and they were fine btw
adam_r
What a nobber! Wet road + lead foot and no skill = spin#
Rich
I bet that ruined his Japfest plans, assuming that's where he was going! Had he been egging you on beforehand then? What was Japfest like now it's moved to Silverstone?
liner33
Yep he was on his way to Japfest , roads were treacherous but yes he had been slowing down and them flooring it past me before , i was just pottering It had been snowing earlier and was very cold , too cold to expect much of summer tyres
Rich
Snow! Weird, I was in Essex yesterday and it was sunny with cloud. That kind of power in those conditions on summer tyres isn't going to end well. Was there much damage to the car?
liner33
Probably a write off
phipck
Ive just seen this video on facebook again, seems to be doing the rounds post Japfest
parthiban
Only just seen this as couldn't see the vid at work - wow those roads didn't look like the sort you'd want to be planting it on! (particularly as I'm assuming the Supra doesn't have TC?) Glad no one was hurt, with the lamppost impact that could have been worse. Btw your car sounds great!! liner33
It seems to be doing the rounds , a media company is interested in making an offer for the rights to it
parthiban
It seems to be doing the rounds , a media company is interested in making an offer for the rights to it Seriously?
liner33
yep , told the chap in the Supra I will split any money I make from it , only fair he has a big bill to fund
Tony
He seems very uneducated for a RWD driver.......Paid the price though.
parthiban
yep , told the chap in the Supra I will split any money I make from it , only fair he has a big bill to fund Not covered by insurance?
liner33
Not claiming so i hear , they would write it off anyhow and he wants to keep it
parthiban
Seems an odd decision - even if they did write it off he could still buy it back, and given the footage so freely available now that car with CAT D status would make absolutely no difference. If it's with a specialist insurer they may not even write that off - not completely clear from the vid but the post to the side of the car isn't great, did it look like major chassis damage? liner33
Odd choice as you say I think its a write off as do others but you can repair most things if you spend enough
Rich
How much are Supra's worth now, do they hold their value? Interesting that a media company are interested, are they offering a lot for it? Was this filmed on the blackvue dashcam?
adam_r
Supraa in good condition and the right specs are worth an awful lot of money now. Mainly because most have seen simular situations to this one
