Rich
If some tyres are able to be re-grooved then why aren't they made with more tread from the factory?
SMARTLY
Cost?
liner33
Tread moving around would produce heat as well plus be far less robust
Tony
Yep for cars stability and temperature is the issue. I used to re-grove lorry tyres many years ago and if i recall it was a measurement taken at the treads lowest point and then add 4mm to the blade for the cut. liner33
Yep four lives for a truck tyre - new/recut/remould/recut seem to remember its 6mm tread when new and recut at 1mm tread depth so 5mm cut

liner33
Fork lift trucks have solid tyres but i dont recall recutting them when i worked in the industry , most companies seem to run them until they are totally bald and slip all over the place when its wet
Tony
I think their groves are to wide to cut anyway.
Gordon
Ours have a band around them, and they cut them until the rubber is down to the band, then replace with new
