liner33
Looks like the wind caught him , ouch! Lucky to get away with a broken ankle and road rash

andyelcomb
That's really odd - doesn't look like the wind caught him to me - more like he bailed out for some reason.
liner33
He was doing 231mph , the wind caught him , once he lost his grip he was toast
Tony
How very strange?..... He actually got off the bike, wind or not for an experienced racer i'm struggling to understand his logic?
liner33
Logic , you think he thought , Oh i know lets let go of the handlebar at 230mph and see what happens
Tony
Bit of a brain fart then?
phipck
it could have been a simple loss of grip, i can only imagine it being like the force of lifting weights and the neccesity to ensure your hands are in the right place before even thinking of starting. Maybe the wibble at the begining loosened his grip and wind or just lack of grip at such speed ended with a tarmac kiss!
liner33
yep holding on at 230mph with no proper fairing isnt easy.
adam_r
tony drive down the motorway at 70mph and shove your arm out the window... then try doing that with your body at over 200
Tony
Yeah i understand that but it's odd a professional racer should take a dive like that?
liner33
HE DIDNT TAKE A DIVE!! He is on a machine that will hit 100mph from a standing start in one second and go on to hit 230mph in 5 seconds , coupled with the amazing g forces he also has to hold on in a 230mph wind , with little or no fairing , all it takes is a less than perfect grip , slightly slippery glove or just a slight crosswind and he will lose his grip
Rich
I've watched the video several times now and to me it looks like he lost grip with his left hand and the force just threw him off the bike.
Tony
Why don't they use proper fairings anyway?
Funky
Ouch...! I thought he was a hero holding it first wobble and keeping power in. Spose that's what happens most of the time though. Also looks to me like he dropped right leg out first.

Tony
Just goes to show how much momentum the bikes carrying.
Sagitar
Incredible. I wonder if they re-thought the tyre barrier subsequently?
Tony
Compression foam is the way to go seemingly. Bikes just bounce off the tyre wall and the rider ends up will a face full of bike.
