Tony
If there is any issues i can have them behind the seats but i wanted to avoid any wiring. The speakers in the doors i would just disconnect.
Rich
Won't that sound a bit crap having it all coming from behind rather than surrounding you.
Tony
I don't know....They make sound boxes for the cabin that go behind but if i have to do that I'll fit them flush rather than in a box.
Steve-O
Less is more here - get a decent set of correctly sized door speakers with a good RMS figure (they will go loud with no distortion) and sound deaden both skins of the doors - will go a long way and make the doors feel more quality when closing them at the same time. I did that on the mx5 with some Ex-demo JBL speakers (£15 from halfords) and some Dynamat and it made a huge difference.
Tony
I've got some sound deadening tiles so i'm ready there...I think i need to see the fit for the speakers and go from there but what i won't do is destroy the look just for the sake of it. Tony
Just by chance they have just arrived...They do look big but we'll see.

adam_r
What brand are they? They look rather bling over function.... Did you look at brands like JL audio or Focal ?
Tony
I did look at other brands but they are to big for the doors... These look a bit bling but the blue fits the rest of the theme.
Rich
Of course they're oval, they are 6 X 9, not circles. The standard size for the MR2 is 5.25" so 4" will be too small and they won't fit neither.
Tony
Thing is they are not the OEM door cards. The OEM doors have handles these don't.
liner33
They are likely going to sound awful though
Rich
Thing is they are not the OEM door cards. The OEM doors have handles these don't. The speakers mount on to the door frame not the door card, so the shape of those doesn't matter too much. You need some 6" speakers from what I've found. I'd cancel those 4" ones if they haven't been dispatched and go for something decent.
Tony
To late to cancel them so I'll just have to wait....I might strip down the current speakers to get a better idea.
Tony
Is this my OBD connection? To the lower left under the steering wheel?

Tony
Thanks..... I bought two bluetooth connectors and neither of them seem to work?....I assume when they are working a blue light turns on. In addition my Android couldn't connect to them? liner33
do you have access to a more modern car?
Tony
Yeah the Vectra, are you thinking i should test them on that.
liner33
yes set it up on that and then try on the
Tony
Good idea... What confused me was while checking where the OBD is some images suggested it was in the engine bay but when i checked online it said the 2003 MR2 MK3 fit was in the cabin and then both readers wouldn't connect bluetooth. Tony
I'm thinking of changing the steering wheel but i have a question... The current wheel has an airbag but the MOMO wheels i'm interested in don't have an airbag. My question is does it matter and is it an MOT fail? The current wheel has an airbag but the MOMO wheels i'm interested in don't have an airbag. My question is does it matter and is it an MOT fail? yes now its an mot fail if the car originally had an airbag , other option is a retrim of the stock wheel This guy is very good and local to you http://royalsteeringwheels.com/
Tony
I thought it would be a fail but i was hoping the 2003 build was exempt.... A retrim is an option and they are not to far from me, best i email them.
