Speed cushions

Recommended Posts

Guys , what's your views on these bolted down rubber speed cushions? I drive a Honda civic type-S and doesn't feel clever going over these damn things and I do drive over them very slowly almost at a stand still !!; near where I live they are trialling these and have expressed my concerns with damage to suspension and bushes etc. over a period of time by going over these every day, part of the councils response was :  ' Whilst I note you have stated that the speed cushions are causing damage to your vehicle, research undertaken has shown that when approached at the correct speed there is no damage caused to vehicles that are maintained to the legal standard.'

Let me know what you think guys.

Cheers Pete

I'm usually at 5mph or less , should start stopping at them, getting out of the car and then pushing it over gently then back in the car for the next one, that would cause one hell of a tail back of traffic and p**s a lot of people off in the process, LOL!!

The ones I'm thinking of are narrow high rubber strips.

This type? If so, then you have to go really slow, less than 10mph over this type definitely. Surely they aren't putting these on roads though? I've only ever seen these in car parks.

Not these ones, our ones are the large square ones, red and black in colour.

Like these then cos I was thinking of the ones you find in car parks as well. I tend to drive straight over these with no problems, in fact I don't see the point in them TBH cos they don't really slow you down much.

Similar to those , but ours are the bolted down type and are made of solid rubber whereas those in your photo look like painted concrete type.

Yes I'm use to the concrete ones, not come across any rubber ones in this shape before. I take it they are alot harsher then?
