SMARTLY
Superglue on the crack then and hold it position until it sets to close the crack completely.
Tony
I think there is a glue used on fibreglass that remains flexible which might be a good idea because the crack must be at a stress area? I'm just surprised the bow in the wing has gone meaning during the inspection today they must have released tension from somewhere?
SMARTLY
Sounds like something wasn't seated properly on the wing. A flexible glue won't be any good as surely it won't stay stuck if it flexes.

In truth i'm not that fussed about it now the wing is sitting correctly although i do want the crack repaired.... If needs be I'll leave it until next year. Tony
Finally get a quote back....£800... I still think it's to much so i'm looking again.
Rich
Have they said what you'll get for £800?
Tony
Yep, repair the crack and spray the area including blending the wing/ door..
Rich
If you've had two quotes at £800 then that must be right. I guess it depends if you want a good job made of it or a crap one, which will probably mean getting it done again in a year or two.
liner33
its the blending you are paying for
Tony
I'm gutted because now the wing has returned to it's correct shape all there is now is a thin crack so £800 hurts. I'm almost tempted to do it myself providing is can get a few cans of spray paint with the correct colour.

NickT
If it's popped back into place and now it's just that crack then why not try another smart repair company ? Â Or put a post out to see if it can be fixed in exchange for your geometry expertise?
Tony
Well that is an idea now the wing is back to normal... But i think I'll try another company.
SMARTLY
Are you driving it still?
Tony
Yeah.... Looks and drives fine other than the crack.
SMARTLY
Well I'd leave the paint for now and just get somebody to fix ( stick ) the crack.
Tony
The way it's going that's all i can do anyway.
Tony
I've decided to fix the crack myself with this   Basically it's filler with added fiberglass. I figure if i do the repair and sand it down all i then need to do is have it sprayed.
SMARTLY
Can you get to the underneath then?
Tony
No.... I can get to the top and door side of the crack. I'm now thinking the fibre glass filler might be to thick to get into the crack?... So i think I'll try and at the same time bond the lower wing to the sill. SMARTLY
Wouldn't have thought it would be much good if it's going to be visible. If it was me I would get a really good super glue suitable for plastics, put a screwdriver or even half a peg or similar small wooden wedge into the crack to open it up, apply the superglue following instructions and put a cloth over it with a hefty weight and leave for 24 hours. Tony
I did consider glue but it won't be flexible alone hence the reason i decided fibre glass. I'm also going to use this at the bottom of the wing to sill to stop the flex.
