SMARTLY
It'll be superglue and gaffa tape then.
Tony
£200 i expect better than that.
Rich
I would get some quotes from proper bodyshops too that deal with these kind of panels and compare them. The plastic has split so it's not like filling in a dent or chip.  What paint is on the car, a genuine Ferrari colour? Can they match it and blend it in to the surrounding panels?  If they can do it for £200 then happy days but I'd want more quotes first to compare. Tony
I haven't found a bodyshop willing to do it. The colour is Ferrari California blue but a paint scan will show the blend. At the end of the day if it's not right i woun't pay them.
Rich
That should tell you something then if a proper bodyshop won't do it but a smart repairer will. I'm just concerned they could end up making it worse. Â If you have to sign anything read it carefully first.
Tony
No it was all done online... The body shops were more interested on replacing panels whereas Autoglass repair plastic/ bumpers and alike. Anyway i have sent them pictures which must have been good enough for them to quote £200. If on the day the repairer is unsure i have since found a coachwork's who have sounded confident so if Autoglass fail i'll go there.
liner33
I'd be amazed if thats a £200 repair the wing needs to be straightened, I'm assuming they are just looking at the crack
Tony
If it is then i'm not interested... The wing seems under load hence the bow but there's no damage to it directly?
Rich
Did you tell them the wing is bent or just showed the photos? How much has the coachworks quoted?
Tony
Yep i told them the wing is not inline with the door. If they just come to repair the crack then it's no good without the wing being dealt with because the repair will crack again. Coachworks is on hold until Wednesday. Tony
Looking at it again in advance of the visit Wednesday I'm dammed if i can see why the wing is bowed. It's as if the wings anchor point at the sill is to long?
SMARTLY
I'm guessing one of the fixing points has broken or moved. Does it move back if you push it in gently?
Tony
Yes and when i push the wing in the crack closes... At the bottom of the wing there is three fingers that connect that area to the sill.. I have the fingers in place but the wing is still bowed.
SMARTLY
Is there any adjustment on the fingers? Â I'm pretty sure Autoglass won't be able to get that aligned.
Tony
No the fingers have a keyway which is intact... I can just see inside the wing and there's no support visible but the other wing is solid which suggests something is missing/ broke or loose. Tony
F*****G fuming..... 4.30pm and still no show for the repair so i checked my booking online only to read they had been out and no one was in ..... I phoned them and in their face told them they were lying because i have been in all day and even if i missed the knock the dog wouldn't!!.... So she checked the booking and said it's not a job they can do ...Oh so no one did knock then!... Err no but we sent you an email, no you didn't or i wouldn't have taken the F G day off work "TOSSERS" Â So after kicking both cats i've now got it booked in a bodyshop tomorrow. adam_r
Not good . Hope you have better luck with the body shop
Tony
Been to the body shop and they have quoted £800 to £1000 I'm not paying that period... So phoned another company which is well into the sticks and took it for some old guy who definitely knew what he was talking about. He's going to send me a quote but even if it's a similar price i would go with him.
Rich
Not surprised about autoglass!! Â Who's the new guy?

Tony
I'm not paying £1000 to repair the crack.
liner33
You need to re-align the wing, fill and repair the crack and repaint blending the paint across the bonnet and door . 3 days work plus materials I'd say
Tony
Don't ask me how but between the first place pushing and pulling the wing it's fell into place and the crack has closed. So at the second place i asked for a quote to stabilize the wing and deal with the crack.
