Rich
I need to clean these up when I change the brakes as they're sticking on one side. What grease should I use afterwards, is it the red type? Where can I get a small tube from in the shops as I won't need much? Also can you grease the piston? liner33
Usual copaslip , no need to do the pistons
scorps
/\.....What he said, never do pistons as the grease will oooze out onto the pad surface when braking.
Rich
But I thought copaslip can damage the rubbers that cover the pins?
scorps
Never heard that, your only using a light coating on the pins.
Tony
Officially it's a high temp resistant silicon based grease, in the real world it's copper-slip.
Rich
So the copper stuff will be ok? I've read threads where people say it will eat rubber seals or it's too gritty to use on slide pins. What else would that kind of silicone grease be used for if I got some? Tony
Poly's.....
Rich
Doesn't seem worth getting a tub of it then, think I'll put a smear of copper grease on.
hms
There is a red high temp grease. Something like this: http://motorcycleproducts.co.uk/catalogue/...se-p-12073.html Coppaslip thickens with age. h
Rich
Can you buy that grease in small tubes as this is probably the only time I will use it? Just bought some copper grease that cost me 9 quid, plus carb cleaner and still need brake cleaner! Not cheap all these sprays and greases! Rich
I'll probably go for the lithium grease that ECP sells - Click me!
Rich
Just remembered I have some of this Castrol LM grease in the cupboard at home...will that be ok to use? It's lithium based and has a high melting point.
