Tony
1044bhp road legal Supra calibrated by wim for the drag, last 1/4 it ran a 10.4, aiming for low 9's or the WR of 8.9 for a road legal car.
adam_r
Tony, i bet the owner has gone through very specialist insurance company for that, and i bet he / she has not paid that much for insurance. Yes its a very highly modified motor, but the insurance company will probably take the view that because he / she has pumped so much money, time and effort in to it they are unlikley to crash or drive like an idiot. Tony
Trust me this guy drives the car like he stole it ...... Biggest problem we're having on the strip with this car at the moment is the wheels are spinning inside the tyres on launch
liner33
Tyres slipping on wheels is very common on drag cars and bikes and normally isnt a problem , my mates bike used to move the tyre 6-8 " every run , thats one of the reason you often see white marks on the side of drag slicks. The very quick stuff has beadlocks that bolt onto the wheel clamping the tyre in place which i am sure you have come across before One of my old bikes had a tubed tyre where tyre slip is very dangerous as it pulls the valve off the tube so i had spiked bolts into the tyre bead to stop this I'm guessing the record he is going for is a for a street legal Supra since he is about 1500hp and a long way off the WR for street legal cars as they are in the 6's now and make at least 2500hp Over here there is a street legal class called Street Eliminator and they run mid 7's, thats the class Red Victor 1 used to run in the one that was on 5th Gear a few times
Tony
The funny car i used to set had the wheels screwed to the tyres, i think this is what he will need.
