SMARTLY
I saw this posted on another forum, it seems it's very messy, you have to clean the snow / ice of the wheels first. It's only temporary and wears off very quickly - so may be OK as an emergency to get you moving.

Yaumeister
Pretty useless in the UK then, considering the use of grit here means it's usually "wet" snow on the roads.

Yep but I can't see it being that good on dry snow neither.
SMARTLY
Bit like socks then, this was in an email I got today If you have purchased AutoSock you will find they make an extraordinary difference to driving on ice and snow. Please remember that they are a "Get out of trouble" solution and they will wear out. They may last for several years, with care, or you may wear them out in one journey, especially if they are driven on rough and icy roads
