liner33
I'm sure i recall hearing that tyres should be replaced when they are 7 years old ??
Tony
Yes, road tyres but not the spare.
scorps
I thought it was depending on if the spare was situated outside the vehicle and open to the elements?.....like mine is as its tucked up into the bodywork.
Rich
Doesn't rubber perish over time though?
CIH
UV light ie; sunlight and changes in temperature are what "age" a tyre. If it's been sat inside a nice wheel-well out of sight then it'll be fine. If it's underneath in a cradle yeah it's probably goosed. My 89 Silvia still has it's factory Dunlop space saver. 21 years old lol! It won't fit when I get 5-stud tho...
Tony
In an ideal world you would replace the tyre after six years but the need for the spare is so occasional it's almost incidental, it's for this reason the spare is not part of an MOT.
