Waz
It's a Haldex 4wd system common across VW & Audi transverse engine cars badged 'quattro' but apart from the detail of that, it's quite quick & capable. handling so far is great, comfortable but firm. Not noticeable in the understeer department and makes nice sounds. a quick look at the sale ad photos; I'll get some better ones of my own when I get out and about more. Tony
Looks really nice and tidy... Nice colour as well, just be careful of those wheels.
Rich
Looks great mate, love those wheels. I bet it shifts!!
liner33
Very nice , I'd have the 3.2 badge straight off and replace it with a TDI one but thats just me
Tony
Why.... What's wrong with the 3.2 badge?
liner33
Why.... What's wrong with the 3.2 badge? Funnier leaving people for dead if they think you have a 1.9 diesel

Waz
It's definitely quicker than the RX8 was. Probably a combination of leaking horses on the compression saga and the rating of car is higher anyway. The 4wd really puts it to the road. I like the fact that it's commonly listed as 0-60 in 6.5s but the owners manual has 0-100km in 6.3s in the technical data!
Tony
I think they are plenty fast enough.... It must feel a welcome change not having constant maintenance like the RX
Waz
I'm looking forward to just being able to drive when I want and not worry about the problems that might make it hard work just to use!
Tony
Well you have found the perfect solution.
Waz
the irony. - the new club keyring, never used on the RX8. safely tucked up on the drive. I've been for a few enthusiastic country lane drives around the south downs and I can safely say - I can't find the "monumental" understeer that was bandied about with this car, and to be honest, I can't really detect that the weight is all over the nose of the car as it would seem to be an obvious likelyhood being essentially a FWD transverse lump. I guess the 4WD system by adding a prop and a rear diff must balance it up, the battery's in the boot, so that's been thought of (although the engine bay is very full) I think the alloys being an inch-up on standard probably sharpens it up a little too, but thankfully it's not harsh. Rich
Glad you're enjoying it If those aren't the standard wheels are they still Audi ones or aftermarket?
Tony
Reads like a text book Audi to me... Very predictable understeer which i recall is manageable to oversteer.
Waz
Glad you're enjoying it If those aren't the standard wheels are they still Audi ones or aftermarket? They're a MOMO wheel. "Quantum Anthracite" Currently fitted with Michelin PilotSport3's in 225/40-18 compared to std fitment of 225/45-17 is pretty close.
Tony
Nice wheels..... One thing i always look for in a wheel is how easy is it to clean?..... If you can't get into all the patten a good wheel soon looks pants.
Viking
If someone has fitted Momo wheels then I'd guess the handling has been addressed as well.
Tony
What in regard to unsprung weight?
Viking
No, someone has fitted different shocks or springs to tighten up the handling.
Waz
No, someone has fitted different shocks or springs to tighten up the handling. Interesting, because it doesn't feel harsh and I remember Tony mentioning an H&R springs avoidance policy on account of being a bit steep rate. I haven't taken my ramps to the car yet, I may be forced to roll about under it after-all!
Tony
Yep H&R and Tein coils are aimed toward track plus on any lowering coils the rate is higher than OEM or the damper could bottom out on bump.
liner33
I think Tein have changed of late, I had some on my R33 Skyline and they were very hard on the road but a mate just bought a set for his Skyline and they are really nice , remind me of the BC's ie just a little firmer than new stock ones I am a big fan of Eibach stuff personally , especially their sway bars
Tony
Eibach are my favourite as well... I have a set of customers own Tein coilovers to fit on a MX5 MK4 this week. The 5 is a very light car so i hope they have changed their rate otherwise it will kill the drive.
liner33
Tein prices have dropped as well ime
Tony
Wonder why.... Losing sales or time of year maybe.
