NickT
After all this I bet it'll be something silly like tyres or a rear suspension bush causing the wayward steering because of rear steer . .
Tony
It's definitely something outside of the box?
Gman
I'm starting to think the same .. I can't but think they have missed something simple ... Yes am pretty sure the ECU as been read . The car is better then what it was but still no where near how it should be back roads are a constant fight. Tony
If the handling is so pronounced are you sure Ford won't entertain further inspection?
Gman
Not sure at this point waiting to hear back from Ford.
Tony
If not tell them you will take it for arbitration
Gman
I'm pulling my hair out over this !! Ford have been in contact I've filed a complaint so just have to wait now. Strange thing happened tonight when reversing I turned onto full lock wheel wouldn't turn any more then the wheel turned again further .... I've also noticed the lock seems less then before... ?? Shed any light on this Tony. Thanks
SMARTLY
On the Mk3 the lock is different depending on the size of the wheels so they don't foul the arches, maybe one of the stops has come off or been damaged. Think it's 17" upwards.
Gman
I'm on 18" . Stops ? Where are these exactly and how do they work? I take it they are basically a rubber type stop to stop like you say the tyre fouling.
Tony
Is the restricted lock only on one side?
SMARTLY
No idea, just remember them being there on the two that I had. Meant a apin reversing off my drive and backwards in a 180 on the road ( corner ) to go out. Have you posted or searched on the Focus TalkFord forum? Try here, looks like it's both sides and in the rack: https://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_focus_steering_rack_limiter_kit_f_1717039_c_964.htm

Gman
This seems never ending ... car is going back to Ford in a couple of wks time they have agreed to look at it with no charge and take it from there..,! Car as got worse it's now developed a steering wheel vibration from 55mph upwards and it's started to clonk with slow manoeuvres as well as the other issues... If I could hand this car back I would . 😬
Tony
Are they sure the drive train is ok???
NickT
I bet 50p they've tightened all the suspension bolts up with the wheels not on the floor and the bushes are pre loaded
Tony
I agree it's something that silly.
Gman
Not sure Tony but this would definitely be a area I would of thought could be damaged on a impact.
Tony
Any history of an impact?

Gman
On a slightly different subject .. I have recently got a Peugeot partner van that pulls severely to the left.. steering wheel is straight . Having googled this it appears many of these vans are affected by this due to the rear subframe being slightly out. If this is the case could a good alignment center improve it? Thanks
Tony
Well the rear beam can be moved but i find most times it's the front tyres making the van pull..... Easy test is swap them side-to-side.
Gman
Thanks , the car is my main gripe after it cost me £1400 !! I've just listed 7 items / issues with the car since the new rack. Can't wait to see what Ford say! 🤔
SMARTLY
£1400 !! cheap

SMARTLY
Ah sorry I misunderstood. So you paid £1400 to fix and it's not fixed?
