Tony
Madam Curie's hand. The very first human x-ray. Exposure to radiation killed her in the end but what a sacrifice.....
liner33
I'm sure i read somewhere that they buried her in a lead coffin due to the possible radiation but recent tests had showed only background levels of radiation casting doubt on the cause of her death cant seem to find anything online of course
Tony
Maybe true since she was contaminated enough to die from radiation poising but if i recall it was low levels over a period of time.
liner33
Her papers are still radioactive so i suspect she would glow in the dark still

adam_r
She didnt understand the full facts of radiatio. And the substances that she was dealing with. Dealing with them for such long periods with no protective equipment would have destroyed her body. I do wonder if she had radiation burn from her experiments. Its unfortunate that such a pioneer died from the love of her own research. With her exposure im amazed her corpse isnt walking about
Tony
Fact is at the time no one knew it was dangerous so in essence she gave her life to warn others.
Rich
Abit like asbestos really, my Uncle died from working with it for years when the risks weren't known and my Aunt also has mesothelioma from washing his work clothes.
