Tony
Massive explosion that's sadly killed 50 people with many more to come i fear. The actual blast must have been munition or explosive based rather than liquid fuel so my additional concern is i hope this isn't a terrorist attack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmChKMl7vsI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-Ud7jgPqdE
SMARTLY
Saw it last night, there was a pressure wave created after the big one that blew over the one camera man. Also visible from space and registered on seismic graphs
Viking
Just been reported on the news that it was indeed stored munitions. Hell of a blast, and to be honest I reckon there's a lot of very lucky people.
Viking
The news report has now changed from munitions to explosives stating translation issues as the possible cause of the confusion. Then went on to say explosives could be translated as anything which is explosive. So no further forward really.
Tony
It was definitely not a fuel or chemical explosion..... I would love to know what went wrong and in time i'm sure we will find out.
SMARTLY
I think the place that went up initially was a secure storage warehouse.
phipck
There are some terribly scary scenes coming flooding in of the sheer power of this blast. Its strange to live in a time where you can see an even as it happened from the perspective of a witness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7FXeaahRsg
Tony
Not nice...... News said the main explosion equalled around 24 tons of TNT but they believe there's another 700 tons underground What i don't understand is wouldn't there be a record of the stock and wouldn't the plant owners know if there's 700 more tons? SMARTLY
More than 200 nuclear and biochemical experts from the Chinese military have been sent to the port city of Tianjin after two huge explosions killed at least 50 people. From Sky News.

Rich
I don't have much data left and no WiFi up here but have seen some bits on the news. I think it was a miracle a lot more weren't killed looking at the size of the explosion.
Tony
Death toll goes up and up..... Real sad anyone died but why did the firemen even attempt to put it out? Anyway here's some more footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=61&v=uvbS5ZYjtus
SMARTLY
Well they have confirmed deadly chemicals now: Sodium cyanide, which can be fatal when ingested or inhaled, was found "roughly east of the blast site", according to police. It was not immediately clear how much had been found or how great a risk it posed. and they have said the first firemen on the scene probably made things a lot worse by spraying water on the fire when they didn't know what was in there. Tony
You would think the services would know in advance what is being stored in any building holding anything hazardous. I assume they needed a permit and had to abide to some level of H&S.
