adam_r
It's insurance time for me too. Will be on the phone to admiral tomorrow determined to get under £250 this year... I'm almost 31 and have 13 yes ncb drive g a post 1.4 petrol corolla!
Rich
The trouble is I have shopped around and the renewal is the cheapest this time - it must be the first time that's happened! I don't have time to keep phoning brokers and giving my details again each time, plus from previous experience they can never match the online quotes anyway. Ideally I wanted to keep mine under £250 but 6 quid more is ok!
Rich
Just had the renewal for the MX5 come through, £257 so up £12 from last year. Can't complain really!
Rich
Has anyone used Performance Direct or Grove & Dean? I think they are the same company but they have done a very cheap quote for the MX5 and my current insurer won't match it. They've quoted £210 fully comp with mods declared but I also think this is a normal policy so I would get NCB as well. Grove & Dean is £246 but that includes legal protection and full breakdown cover as well. As with all companies they do have negative reviews but lots of positive ones too. I do have a couple of other classic insurance specialists I want to try but I really can't be bothered with all this phoning around lark to save a few quid. Rich
I had another quote yesterday, again it comes with breakdown cover. How is this a selling point though cos you need to have a daily driver to qualify for a classic policy and it's likely you will have breakdown cover for that already. The cover that comes with the classic policy only covers the car and not the driver. As we have 2 other cars and have RAC joint membership I can't see what benefit I would get from having separate breakdown cover for just the MX5? The only advantage I can think of is if it includes home start, which we don't have with the RAC. Unfortunately the quote I got was only for roadside and recovery. adam_r
Thought I would add.. Just renewed insurance for the corolla through admiral again. Cheapest by a country mile at £250 for the year. That's for my wife with 4 yrs ncb. Everyone else wanted 350+!!!
Rich
Admiral are no where near to the other quotes this year. I am just automatically renewing the Accord this time, I can't find any quotes that come close to the renewal. I've still got a couple of places I want to try for the MX5 and I'm aiming for under £250 again.
Rich
So best quote for the MX5 so far is £247 which also includes free breakdown cover and that's with Peter Best. I want to try Peter James and Classic Line - has anyone used either of these?
Rich
Classic line quoted £218 including breakdown with home and commuting. Peter Best didn't include commuting but they said I could use it occasionally to go to work.I think I'm going to go with Classic Line though. If I want agreed value it's £20 more. I already have it on my current policy but didn't send the photos in so it would just pay out at market value, which seems to be under £1k. I told them it's worth £2k.Has anyone done agreed value before, do they actually stick to it if you need to claim?
Rich
Well I renewed with Classic line, sent them the photos and form for the valuation and I've just received the certificate saying they will pay out £2,000 in a claim. I'm happy with that as despite them selling on ebay for under £1,000 now it'll cover the work I get done to the sills and arches.
Rich
Time to renew the Lexus insurance now, Diamond quoted nearly £200 more than last year at around £600. Won't be renewing with them then!!
SMARTLY
Just renewed mine, Churchill quoted me £289 did a confused.com as all my data is there and it came to £221 with GA. There was one at £197 and after discovered it was the same company but different trading name
Rich
So you going for the £197 quote? We're looking at Tesco or the AA at around £450 with legal protection added. The missus has been with Tesco before (2 years a go) so I'm not sure if she'd qualify as a new customer to get cashback. That's assuming the quote will be the same or cheaper than the comparison sites.
SMARTLY
No, I accepted the one at £221. Includes legal, courtesy car and protected bonus.
Rich
Can't moan about that
