Hydro dipping

I am probably behind the times but this is amazing:

Not a new technique. It has been used for years to apply camouflage patterns to complex bow forgings for archery. It has been developed there to the status of a continuous mass-production method.

Way back in the fifties we used to drip liquid colours on to a water surface to form unique random patterns then move objects through the resulting film to transfer the film. I guess it grew from that, with developments in the creation of the film and the introduction of static electricity to improve the transfer of the film.

Interesting! Been watching a few videos and really impressed with some of the things you can do with this technique. Are there people in the UK that specialise in this kind of thing then?

Keith Cousins and me were trying to find a Company that would dip the trim of the IS's as an alternative to carbon fibre skinning. Nearest we got was a place in Liverpool but they never replied to email enquiries so we assumed they were not interested in short batches. Also found a supplier of dipping films, but again were only interested in supply to the trade.
