i find it worrying that the average car owner who generally doesnt have a clue on geometry, take their cars to someone who they believe is a professional they get left with a dangerous set up how do they get away with it ? it is only through driver feedback that any problems get highlighted, no other check is ever carried out, we moan about the MOT , but perhaps it should include a check, i wonder how many accidents have been caused by bad geometry problem is that after an accident the geometry i guess would be presumed to be out
  3. nope ! can be bald on the remaining 25% unless its gross weight is over 3500kg
  4. Thanks Tony, i was afraid you were going to say that I'll pop down at the weekend for a set of front boots and a tune up! Sorry mate... Tiss the law If you are coming at the weekend let me know for sure because we are rammed...... It's all those pesky customers I posted here cause i knew i would get an honest answer! Too many places make that sound of sucking air through their teeth and say "oooo need new ones there" I shall ring tomorrow, sadly, i cannot get down during the week. i would say it is touch and go wether it is on the legal or illegal side either way dont risk yourself and get a new set
  5. not at all perhaps you could post some of your action shots up Been there done that in the early 90's with a m8 in the hot hatch series...a contact sport, i have recent videos and loads of hard pics of track days on 2 wheels one of which is with R. Haslam oh and of course some wheelies and burnouts around by Croydon airport (im sure you know where) where a m8 shot a DVD, did the Nürburgring years ago (not recently) on a Fireblade and pretty much done most of the UK tracks in one form or another. sounds great lets see some pics, it is a piccy thread after all around croydon airport .......you mean the industrial estate, thought you would be a bit past that sort of action !

  7. deceptive track, we used the banking which the photos dont really show, with tight turns and change in planes i must admit it handled brilliantly, and helped to achieve a second in class
  8. it was a sprint at rockingham speedway, competing in the toyota sprint series generally done one car at a time
  9. dont forget your little tart
  10. i would say that it was deflated way before you stopped, and has been damaged whilst being effectively driven on are there fragments of rubber inside the tyre ? looks like the actual valve part is missing ?

  12. as the most important bit is getting away from the line that is good advice, although the lower pressure will give a bit more drag on the run itself ! not sure as low as 15psi, drop it slowly in stages to see what works best, too low and the tyre can loose contact area in the centre stick the front pressures up to reduce their drag as well remember to inflate/deflate as necessary afterwards !
  13. i believe Tony means hard and uncompromising when he says "crashy" the original bushes are rubber, and quite soft so allow absorbtion of vibrations and flex where as poly bushes are quite rigid and tend to transfer all vibrations directly to what they are joining together it is a hard choice, the fitting of them will greatly improve the cars handling but they also compromise the cars comfort level

geometry is important for all vehicles, the price of tyres on the 4x4 vehicles makes it even more so
  15. coilovers come in different settings the TTE coilovers i have on the lexus are very comfortable and very easy to live with however the starlets coilovers are very harsh, and not practicle for everyday use different spring rates are normally available dependant on their intended use
