MR2 mare

Toyota MR2 SW20 is booked in for possible suspension raising and Geo calibration, the complaint is pants handling and violent bump steer.

Turns out the owner has fitted a set of EZ cam camber adjusters and front tie rods, it was immediately evident the issues it had was geometric not suspension.... Anyhoo as you all know we give most cars an hour window for calibration but this MR2 had problems.

With the car on the rig it displayed a very hurt car and all four EZ cams had been incorrectly fitted, my option now was to correctly fit the adjusters on a two poster but there's no space to get the car back on the rig, or re-fit the adjusters on the rig and run the rest of the day an hour behind, so what to do?

I decided to re-fit the cams on the rig and run an hour late and since i lock the fee this didn't cost the owner a penny extra. My wallet says this is not the way to operate but my gut says i cannot let the owner drive a car in that condition.

Additional note

Sorry Pete, i know i made the day one hell of a hard day.

Pete is the one who needs the rewards here, in truth i gave him one hell of a day.

Problem i/we have is the customers travel hundreds of miles to us, we have an hour window and this car had real issues.... Some how it just has to happen, poor Pete had to carry this but in my book there was no other option than deal with the car.

Good on you mate, its for this reason that people are willing to travel from all over the country for your services, an honest and reliable service, top man B) :crying_anim:

Got to be done really, it wasn't a good business move but money's not everything is it.

thats great to hear......again! you seem to be constantly proving your personal business stratagy of moral over material wealth. In my books that puts you way ahead of the game.

what was wrong with the way they installed the EZ camber bolts? ive seen them put on the bottom bolt hole before which im sure must cause some issues!

The washer has a tooth that off-sets the bolt, they had been fitted "nut side" rather than "bolt side".

simular reason my local "specialist" couldnt work out my weird camber then, when i checked what they had done (because they said they couldnt get the passanger side front wheel correct) they had rotated the washer tab to the wrong side of the bolt and couldnt get the camber. i really am going to have to save a few pennies and get my mr2 up to you.

The direction the wing faces determines which way the camber adjusts, to be fair the instructions aren't all that, so if they've never seen them before it's an easy mistake......... But not rocket science to figure out either though :crying_anim:
