Tony
Just takes bloody ages drilling out those damn strut top screw-tab things. And this one fought me all the way so it took like 2hrs total. Astras are good. The rear beam has like 20" toe adjustment if you shove it hard enough. It didn't actually need that much, but it was interesting to see. Are you talking about the ones with the alen hex or the domed ones. Tony
either way to round-off ? The thread is only 5mm long, drill a pilot then ram a 6mm core buster, the alloy pin will give in no time.
CIH
what's a core buster ?

CIH
Did a subframe shove today. My first one. On a Bently Continental Flying Spur noless. Meh, I hate modern cars.
Tony
Did a subframe shove today. My first one. On a Bently Continental Flying Spur noless. Meh, I hate modern cars. You "optimised" a subframe today :tongue2: .... What was the problem, you read "harassed".
Tony
What problem would you expect from this cars condition (excluding over/under steer)?
CIH
Pull to the right and offset steering wheel (thrust & front camber), potentially some instability under braking (front camber) and distressed tyre wear on the rear. Castor looks a smidge low too for an MX5 ? Did it come in like that or did you set it specifically for the pictures ?
Tony
Came in like this.... Complaint "pulling left".
CIH
left ? tyres ?
Tony
left ? tyres ? Left because of the thrust position, the rear is drifting right so pushing the steer axis left.
CIH
Never thought about thrust in those terms TBH. If anything, I'd have expected the front camber to counter any left-pushing force(s) ?
Tony
Never thought about thrust in those terms TBH. If anything, I'd have expected the front camber to counter any left-pushing force(s) ? Thrust to these values has the rear trying to overtake the front, the driver has to resist this hence the complaint, don't forget these are also the drive wheels. CIH
So the rear steps out to the right, presumebaly more so under throttle/acceleration, and the driver has to counter-steer right/clockwise ? And he/she percieves this as a left pull ? Am I correct so far ?
Tony
In the wet it would definitely saturate, more to the point is the drivers need to correct the perpetual rear drift or in old language crab.
Tony
Notice anything odd about these settings?
CIH
Target positions are offset. Had that on an S-Type before. Didn't know the XF had it too.
CIH
Is it fair to say that, for OEM front camber, a bigger static figure means a deeper camber curve/gains ?
Tony
Hidden in the UK data is what is desired in the Jap data "stagger".... For the adjustable chassis this stagger always needs to be taken into consideration.

Tony
don't follow you there mate ? Most of the Hunter data will look for symmetry, so if you have a perfectly symmetrical reading but the car has a drift then remember the reason for the Jap stagger. CIH
oh right I didn't mean in the context of that Jaguar lol sorry. I was thinking more like an Omega (-2.0 IIRC) against say a E46 3-Series (about -40" IIRC) ?
