Rich
I've got a new steering wheel to fit. When I change it could I knock it off centre doing this or should I wait until I have the geometry done and fit it just before?

Rich
The hole in the wheel is hex shape. I'm assuming it will be ok then?
Tony
The hole in the wheel is hex shape. I'm assuming it will be ok then? Should be.... Just check the hex in the steering wheels are in the same position.
alnug
Hey all just a bit of experience....even if you do mark the column and the steering uses splines...it is still possible for the steering wheel to be off centre when it goes back on...there is a slight bit of movement possible when tightening the nut onto the splines...... I will be leaving it for a while don't worry and I'll stand outside the car when i unplug it!

hms
And when you knock the steering wheel off, make sure the nut has not been removed from the column completely. Saves you damaging your nice new steering wheel with you teeth! (Or is it the other way around?) h
Tony
It says on the cd... The spiral cable (don't ask what that is) should not be allowed to rotate after the wheel is removed? Other than that there is no information about the airbag...... Oh torque setting for the main nut is 50nm

Other than that there is no information about the airbag...... Oh torque setting for the main nut is 50nm The spiral cable is a wound electrical cable that connects to the airbag. Imagine it is wound ike a clock spring ! If it is moved then it could be stretched when the wheel is turned to the extreme end.
