Hi guys, as most of you know i started my V8 swap some time ago well 11 months to this day :D as all ways i jump in head first :) Why? well you could say im not to good at saveing, so the only thing to do was to start the swap! and by doing so i had to do it.

First i had to find an engine for my swap, i ended up get a LS400 1991 of of ebay for 360.00 i think! it was as the car was not running, so of i go to pick the car up had alook over it, seen what was up with it and with in 30 mins i got it running :D

This is the LS400

and here is the V8 i will be useing

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...JEj4hu7Pt_l.jpg

The engine has only done 120,000K and as they go on untill about 5 to 600,000K the engine has alot of life in it.

But before i could think about droping the V8 into the IS i had alot of work to get done first. as some weeks before i had started work on the IS first i took the Turbo kit of and that went to a good home, then the gearbox had to come of, then out with the IS engine.

I then started to work on takeing the body/kit of and replaceing it with a custom one that i made, along with a custom bonnet...>>

The custom bonnet, just the one pic for now....

Here is the start of the custom sideskirts i made.....

next stage

and the next

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...qORLTUa5o_l.jpg

and the last stage, they dont sit that low and the full kit is not OTT at all

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...snBxUJF6C_l.jpg

and with that out the way i started the body/work as i want to paint the car "Jet black" and i have to say this is the first and last time i paint a car at home :D but it went well...

Stage 1

But this was done some months ago and now im thinking of doing it 2 tone :D

well thats the body work done nex comes the big job, the engine swap :) :)

UPDATE!!!

I went out to start work on takeing the V8 out of the LS400 ( standing there thinking to myself what the hell have i got myself into ;) ) with that i just started to take all the parts around the engine of, and put them to one side.

Took the air/intake of just to make it easy on me to get the rest of the bits of, Then went on to disconnect all the pipe/work from the engine, took the Rad of and the aircon...i have all so done away with the aircon to make room for the Turbo to sit down there.

engine with air/intake off...

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...p*xfP-rCW_l.jpg

all the bit that had to come off are!

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...ZHjVby7cK_l.jpg

Next to come out was the "gearbox" and disconnect the Exhaust's

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...XKjOkfUhg_l.jpg

Next was to take the engine out :) here are some pic,s of it out>>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...ZM1ijyj6H_l.jpg

as you can see by them pic,s its in my workshop, now i could start to work on the engine just to make it look a lot better than it was. once i had it there i took the cam/covers of not just to work on them but to see what was going on inside and this is what i had to find

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/70c0WTrx...rF-qxC*8C_l.jpg

as you can see not looking to good, but when i asked around on the V8 site it seemed it was no where as bad as some of the V8,s on there. here is the left side looking a lot better :)

so with the cam/cover off i started to work on them to make them look 100 time better than they did. they went from this>>

Right where was i....

ruel rails...^^

Right this is what the engine looks like now>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...xu2jWsziF_l.jpg

so the next thing to do was drop the V8 into the IS for a test fit!

at first i tryed it in with the LS engine mounts on and right away i could see that there was no way that i could use them, so out came the engine and i tryed the IS mounts on the engine and droped it back down and it fitted but It was sitting a bit low so i had to make some 10mm spacer, and now it fits (as if it had all ways been there)

it sits more to the front of the car than the IS engine did but only by 50mm but as its not as long as the 1G-FE so now i have about 100mm at the back of the engine bay :) but as the V8 is not that much heavier than the 1G, it should not be a problem (i hope)

100mm space at the back>>

Engine in place>>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...P0R0dRyHR_l.jpg

With the engine in place it was time to look for a gearbox. I got a 5 speed gearbox out of supra turbo :) some of the guys in the US use this box and one guy has over 400bhp so i know it can take the power. well it was flip up out of the 5 or 6 speed supra boxs and as the 6 speed is so hard to get and not only that the price tag on the 6 speed it was not much of a flip :) as the 6 speed is about 1K more than the 5 speed.

Hear is the Gearbox i got>>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...cwQm60U0O_l.jpg

This is what it will look like when its time to fit it>>>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...AKcNDyjxv_l.jpg

But first i have to get the gearbox adaptor plate so i can bolt the gearbox upto the V8 bellhouseing, i should have it in about 3 weeks :)

I all so have to make shifter extension to relocate the shifter back so it comes up through the right hole, or if any one knows where i can get one from that would help hell of a lot :)

well with the engine in place it was time to take a look at the wireing, the ECU,s will be put in the g/box >>

well the wireing is all most done i have about 6 wires to go but its them 6 that are *^&%^$%%^$ ;) peeing me off...so i have stoped with the wireing and i will go back to them 6 wires later on.... :)

With the wireing put to one side for now i moved on to the manifolds! as i will be going down the Turbo road with this setup i had to make 2 new manifolds and they would have to face the front so i can sit the Turbo at the front, so first i had to get my hands on some manifold flang's and i got them of "Thor" Thanks to roger :) then i went and got all the pipe/work to make them, had to make a log/maifold as there is not much room for anything els.>>

This is where the manifolds meet at the front>>

http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic/d610zsDH...vA*c7niCZ_l.jpg

as you can see around the engine/bay i have put Heat Reflective mat, still more to put round some of the pipe/work

I will post up about all the fueling later today...
