Steve-O
Is it this maybe? There's a brief mention of WIM : http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mazda/mx-5/88375/mazda-mx-5-to-porsche-boxster-beater-for-5k Skuzzles involved who is the dude who has worked on mine for the last year or two
Tony
Hardly a glowing advert for wim was it...... Glad we charged them full price now
Steve-O
The article is generally a slight disappointment - would have liked to read about everything in a bit more detail, but then again this is AutoExpress and i suppose they need to keep things fairly light for their intended audience. It does focus on the supercharger but there could have been quite a nice piece about the fitting and calibration of decent coilovers and the impact this has. Obviously I know this first hand and i know this could have been a good read. Opportunity missed by them there which is a shame. Oh well you got a mention anyway in a national mag - thats never a bad thing.
Tony
Well yeah but given the amount of pictures they took i was expecting more.
Rich
I thought this was a video interview and was going on YouTube so how has it gone from that to one line in a written article?
Tony
Well yes it was both seemingly?......
Steve-O
More parts coming apparently: https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=UUYCgq9pdIv95dnjMPFdk_DQ&v=Ch1xdpkQADw
Tony
They seem to be very focused on the engine in both the paper and the video.
Rich
Hopefully there is more to come, power is useless without the handling to match.

Steve-O
Pt2 here: Joes in it a bit
Tony
That was a much better advert for wim/ BB....... Joe looks like Noah though .... The handling looked great not forgetting it had the EVO geo settings that deliberately makes the car oversteer for entry in which is a fav for the track day heroes. Rich
They didn't show much, shame there wasn't more said about the geo - good video though.
Steve-O
I'm getting a sense of renewed interest and a change in attitude towards the older mx5's recently which is a great thing. What this video fails to highlight is the actual drive is far more rewarding and visceral (No nanny state aids to be found here!) which adds to the whole experience plus the huge aftermarket and club scene. It costs a fraction of the price of the boxster yet does everything the boxster does and more.
Rich
Plus it won't depreciate like a Boxster!
Tony
They didn't show much, shame there wasn't more said about the geo - good video though. Too many Geo/ suspension is a difficult topic to grasp so i'm not surprised it had something of a drive-by mention. The video does however prove the money moment i mean 0-60 in the same time as a Boxter at a fraction of the cost!
Steve-O
Let's remember how easy it is to drive the mx5 towards its upper limits. Pretty sure the majority would go faster purely on confidence and easy to read handling I.e a forgiving geo fine in the right hands the boxster is faster but what's more accessible? Tony
I think the classic call of the 5 is the fact it's handling package is easy to read, by that i mean anyone can feel the cars limits, you can take it to the edge, know your there and it will save you if you run out of talent. Tony
Do it..... You only live once so you might as well live your dreams.
Rich
You don't even need £5k, a couple would be plenty.
Steve-O
It can be done on the cheap if you are canny and good with the spanners. To get the best out of it it's going to cost more though. But as tony said - get involved you only live once
