Viking
My favourite Fred quotes. "I've never fell off a big chimney. You'd only fall off one of them once." "Steam engines don't answer back. You can belt them with a hammer and they say nowt."
Tony
The man was a classic. I used to watch his program world of steam and i don't even have any interest in steam engines.

JamesV70R
Great few videos of him laddering a chimney up ... Part 2 should show in the related videos. Wouldn't get me doing it!

Viking
Gotta love Fred.......such a knowledgeable guy. And quite prepared to talk all day to anyone who would listen. Many people have knowledge, but being able to impart that knowledge to people in a way they want to hear and can understand is a real talent and a gift. scorps
I could sit and listen to him for hours especially when he did his programme on the "industrial revolution" and explained how everything worked in great detail and when he visited sites that were derelict with some machinery left after the scavengers had been in and tore everything out you could see the passion in his eyes when speaking about it and the love he had for everything mechanical.
