Tony
Awful but both driver and marshal survived> http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/driver-steward-walk-away-horrific-ferrari-crash-suzuka-115825523.html?vp=
Steve-O
jesus - looked like he went over a painted line or something and that caught him off guard. Both bloody lucky - especially the marshall.
Tony
Definitely no time to react, other than shut your eyes.
Steve-O
he did start to move away so he instinctively knew something was about to happen but not sure whether it would have made a massive difference. Main thing is they both survived

DaveyR
Hadn't seen that until now. That is terrifying! And a very unusual place to have an accident at Suzuka. It looked like he was alongside another car when he began to veer off at an angle, could they have touched ever so slightly? With all the aero and mechanical grip I can't imagine the driver just lost control in a straight line of his own accord. Amazing that both survived, thank goodness. andyelcomb
To me it looks as though the marshal is applauding the drivers. That would indicate that the chequered flag has probably been put out, so end of race. What might have happened is that either the Ferrari driver waved back or otherwise lost concentration and crashed, or possibly a car in front slows more than expected at the flag and he moved across to avoid and then lost it. Can't really see enough of the moments just before the crash to get the full context.
parthiban
Horrific crash, very lucky escape. I also wonder whether it clipped the red car, or perhaps got caught out with braking and swerved to avoid.
