  1. When it was just steel wheels it was always just the clip type on the front or back, think the stick on ones only really became popular when alloys wheels did as no-on wanted weights hammered on . Cant think of any reason why you couldnt use stick on weights with a steel wheel
  2. Lack of airbags?? But they wouldnt be triggered in a crash like this
  3. Black does show the dirt but looks simply awesome when its clean and if prepped properly it will last ages , in fact a good downpour will take most of the dirt off I need to do our other car over the next few weeks its not been detailed since last August
  4. That wasnt hard as it was fresh'ish paint from a respray a couple of years before though Better example this is my daily runner , 68,000 miles in 5 years , mostly a hard life up and down the motorway on a daily commute, parked next to a railway line during the day getting covered in rail dust its never garaged, and hasnt been detailed since October last year, only washed and snow foamed over the winter. Yesterday it was simply snow foamed , washed and left to dry on its own Paint, still looks good though imo Beaded well last time i did it as well
  5. http://www.snopes.com/autos/dream/jato.asp or not Mythbusters had a good go though
  6. Urban myth though isnt it ??
  7. Couldnt care less whether people look after their cars or not but to suggest the paint will stay in good condition without any effort is delusional Poor washing techniques will ruin the finish over time , thats a fact but for some people that doesnt matter as they change the car before its ruined anyhow as do I but more importantly to me the car will look shabby , I have no wish to drive a grungy car.
  8. If you car is the one in your avatar then you wont see much difference in silver it wont look great whatever you do and it will hide the scratches well luckily as the paint will no doubt be in poor condition It boils down to whether you care about your car or not , my cars always look fanatastic , the best that they can , i just washed my blue Octavia today and it literally stands out in the car park it looks so nice , thats how i want my car to look and i prefer to drive a car than looks nice inside and out. Couldnt care less what other people think
  9. Great site that , i have visited a lot of those places over the last few years , its amazing whats still there
  10. Great work with the leccy stuff , i'm not so good when it comes to that , going to wire in a seperate fusebox this weekend as there are only so many feed you can take from the fag lighter, i'm dreading it . let alone some of the spaghetti you have there
  11. You arent alone , lots of people clay wheels including myself My OZ wheels came off a track car and had pad material baked on the inside where it had sprayed off the disc , in places it was a couple off mm thick , in the end i had to use brick acid to shift it , i clayed and polished the wheels before applying FK1000p sealant

    FAO Tony

Some refurb places wont repair wheels due to franchise restrictions.
  13. I'm not so sure thats true many of the safety features used in all motorsports originate in the US , the HANS device being the most recent major leap in design , not forgetting about fireproof racesuits, concrete guardrails, parachutes for drag cars etc etc etc
  14. Thats guy who nearly pushed his mate off the cliff!!
  15. I used to have Michelin Pilot sports on my Merc , unfortuantly my gravel drive played havoc with them and they split between the treads , water got in and corroded the steel bands and the tyres bulged causing a vibration but this hasnt happened with Eagle F1's
  16. I love it , it looks like its out of Wacky Races
  17. I have Assymetrics on my Evo , not problem at all not even in the snow I have heard a lot about this vagueness at speed but mostly from people with heavier cars than mine
  18. Dropping it down a gear will use much less fuel than putting your foot down further on the throttle
  19. I was told a story by a Merc mechanic who went out to a puncture on a new AMG E class on the A1 , BOTH rear tyres were like that one and both rims were wrecked (AMG ones not cheap) The car driver then went into a rant about how crap modern Mercedes were My old boss used to say "You cant educate pork" meaning some people are just so stupid they are little more than meat , kinda sums drivers like this up
  20. 15" wouldnt fit over my brakes need to be 17" R1R's sound good , can you get those Tony ??

    Lancer Evo 6

yeah or every 4500miles but only takes an hour or so and easy to DIY. The AYC anti yaw control needs the oil changed every 9000 miles which needs specialist tool so garage job but no biggie
