BuyPirelli
Whenever I have had a garage damage my alloy, its always been when removing the tyre and never when fitting it, even though the fitting process is similar. To reduce the odds of them getting chipped, I thought it may be worth deflating the tyres and then cutting them off with a knife before I give the alloy to the garage. Is this easy / logical? scorps
Your going to the wrong garages then as there is a protective shield good garages use to protect the rim when removing/fitting tyres. A knife wont cut through the steel cord.
phipck
bolt cutters would just about chew through the tyre but i agree you are tackling this issue from the wrong angle. Seek a better tyre fitter and all will be super simple
andyelcomb
Yep, don't event THINK about trying to cut a tyre off. I tried that years ago and using a hacksaw didn't work properly and I got very hot & bothered and basically got nowhere.
Rich
Same as Andy, I thought I'd give it a go to see what happens...no chance!!
Tony
Purely down to poor equipment and lack of interest from the fitter..... Actually cutting a tyre off would be very difficult.

scorps
Just tell the feckers to take more care with your alloys or you'll punch him in the head
BuyPirelli
They are that tough? Good to know, I never realised. Closest decent tyre place is a 70 mile round trip.
Tony
Repair wheels or day out, what's the better deal.
