84Stoney
I HAVE COPIED THIS POST FROM MY THREAD ON OJC, BUT AS YOU GUYS ARE THE RPOS WITH WHEELS I THOUGHT I WOULD CROSS-POST IT HERE, I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND. I have a nice set of wheels that I was hoping to use again. However one of them is... (trying to thing of a word that would be censored by the filter!)... uhm, let's just go with BENT! Despite many websites offing these for sale, in sets or as singles, it turns out none of them actually have them for sale, as they have been discontinued by the manufacturer, and everyone seems to be out of stock. If anyone can find one Rota Subzero Lightweight wheel in 18x7.5 and 5x114 fitment, any colour, I would be amazed, but also very grateful! I have seen others posting about having wheels straightened as part of a refurb, and seeing as I cannot source a replacement, I thought I would ask if anyone thinks I have any chance of ever getting this one straight again? This one really shows the extent of it...... I know, it's bad! But what do ya think?
Rich
I think it's a possibility going from other rims I've seen Must be pretty soft to bend that much though.
Tony
It's an easy fix providing the buckle is not in the front face... Finishing the front in it's current condition is not a problem, removing a compressed inner face or overall buckle is not a problem. The reason removing a buckle from the front is an issue is it would require heat, and in this event the face will need to be refurbished. 84Stoney
I think it's a possibility going from other rims I've seen Must be pretty soft to bend that much though. Well they only weigh 8kg each, maybe that makes them softer? It was one hell of an impact! It's an easy fix providing the buckle is not in the front face... Finishing the front in it's current condition is not a problem, removing a compressed inner face or overall buckle is not a problem. The reason removing a buckle from the front is an issue is it would require heat, and in this event the face will need to be refurbished. That is amazing news. The front is not fully true, but the most buckling is certainly on the back. There is corrosion and slight kerbing on this wheel and the other three, so would probably look at getting the set refurbed. They have done nearly 40k miles but I would love to use them on an IS200 I am about to purchase. You are a long way from me in Exeter, but I will try to visit you some time when I am up your way. In the meantime, I will try to take some better photos and email them to you, in the hope you will get a better idea of the problem, and ask about prices. Thanks Tony. scorps
The guy at WIM did my daughters wheel and it was twisted. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/forum/ind...94&hl=wheel
84Stoney
That looks like it might not be quite as bad as mine, but surely the theory of straightening it is the same? Not seen you in a while Scorps? I've always loved the F150 Lightening, nice choice, and I agree that at some point in your life you need to have a V8. But I've had a stint with my off road prepped Discovery V8, and it's time for that to make way for something new. It's been over a years since I have a charged IS, but not been on here to change my info, though thought I'd leave it now, as I will shortly be picking up M2 PJV, a car I believe you may be familiar with?
