My Mercedes C200k Estate 06 pulled to the left and the problem was severe. I took the car to an independent Mercedes specialist for a complete geometry alignment. It failed to fix the problem. Cost about £300 I then took my car to my local Mercedes dealer - the approach taken there was rather surprising. Rather than trying to understand the problem they elected to treat the symptoms - Mercedes pushed all settings to the maximum so the car would steer to the right. This approach created all sorts of other problems amongst other things imprecise driving and failed to fix the problem. Cost about £400 At this point, I was getting very concerned as to whether the problem could ever be fixed without having to spend thousands of pounds. So I decided to take the 5 hours round trip to Wheel in-motion - after all everyone seems to agree WIM are the best in the UK and at this point I have nothing to loose anyway. I met Tony at WIN to whom I explained the problem and I took the time to share my theory about the problem (my theory is wrong by the way). Tony was very attentive to the details and then asked that I place my car on the Hawkeye (an amasing piece of kit!!) so that he can assess the situation in greater details. What we saw was the Job Mercedes had done ... in short it was an horror story and in violation of Mercedes own tolerances. This explained why I did not get a printout from Mercedes for this job. Tony took everything back to the basic, standard and recommended settings as the first step. The Drive Test confirmed the issue, the car pulled to the left. I was again very concerned as my expectation was this machine does everything for you. plug-in the number and of you go. Well, there is no magic! This is when I started to understand why Tony is so good. The first step wasn't trying to fix the problem but rather create a framework of reference for Tony to understand what forces are applied to the chassis of my car under different conditions/settings. Tony was applying a methodical approach to the problem, removing 1 road block at a time. Well guess what !! no surprised he cracked it. My Car is now a pleasure to drive. Bottom line, there is no magic. If your car pulls to the left it can be fixed, Tony can fix it (i have no shares in WIM by the way . To get the right geometry/balance you need the kit, the knowledge but was have a right mind set. Tony said to me whilst he was investigating the issue... I have not yet failed and we won't stop until we have fixed your car. Well you have it, Tony is not only professional, he also takes pride in his work. This is why WiM will fixed your problem not because there is so magic. Good luck, don't waste time and money, speak to WIM now if your Mercedes pulls to the left. John ...............................
