Tony
The mission is to transform this MX5 chassis Into a fast-road/ track car. This will involve the compliance bushings, brakes, suspension, wheels and finally the calibration. There's nothing nice when it comes to removing the old bushings so those of you with a nervous condition "look away". Here's the kit After snapping two of the three retaining bolts the first wishbone was off The rear anti-roll bar was removed, without snapping the retaining bolts, which is unusual Next step is removing the bushing. The best way to do this is to heat up the inner core then knock this out Once done the remaining rubber is partially burnt away The trick with the new bushing is to remove the metal core first, push the bushing home then press the core into the bushing Next step is to fit the GAZ Gold Pro Race coilovers, 22 way bump/rebound adjustable, 350lb front coils 250lb rear. I decided to use the race Golds because there's no additional cost but they allow the owner to go way, way low if desired. Now to reinstall the wishbone and ARB To be continued.......... Tony
Nice blog, how many bushes though!! Could do with some of those wishbones on the mondeo What did you think of the greenstuff pads, I'm thinking of getting those? Are they oem discs? On the MX5 there's 30 bushings to replace .. Greenstuff are good but only as good as your hydraulics, i'd be inclined to braid the lines first.
