RSA Insurance withdraw from the market

Recommended Posts

I had a letter yesterday from More Than (RSA) who I have the Accord insured with. They're no longer offering car insurance and I will receive a renewal quote from Swinton instead.

I've not read too much about it but it seems inflation is having a big impact on insurance too. Things like car repair costs have gone up meaning they're paying out a lot more than what they did.

The MX5 insurance is due next week but that's on a classic policy and increased by £25, which I thought was good. So I will just renew that. I did get one quote elsewhere but it was £150 more! 🙃

Yeah I saw on the other half's RAV4 a big increase and when we tried to get the quote down they said "no" - only securely garaged hybrid toyotas get a lower rate. the thefts of cats, parts and now reversing cameras, headlight units and whole bumpers off toyotas is so high that they are shifting them into higher risk categories.

Apparently the Yaris is one of the most targeted cars by car part thieves due to shortages of certain items. Getting silly...

Have you paid the increased premium then Eddie or did you manage to get it cheaper looking around?

My Accord is due in November, I'm hoping it doesn't increase too much! I barely do 2k miles a year in it and tax costs £400 now plus it only does 20mpg. But I know it's reliable and changing it for something else could leave me with a pig of a car!

Ended up having to take a hit and pay more. Now dreading the renewal on my Lexus soon - I expect it to go up a fair bit compared to last year....

Bugger! I'm really hoping the Accord doesn't increase that much!
