Tony
Real or fake?...... I think fake
adam_r
I call BS. The damage to the quad copter is not significant enough to reflect the damage on the windscreen
Tony
Makes you wonder why people make the effort?
adam_r
To make them look bad. Dont you remember that 'drone' that hit an airplane...and it was actually a plastic bag! No one likes 'drones' so the media pick on them for scaremongering. Unfortunately there are some complete tards that own quads.. But they are the ones who go and buy a phantom from maplins
Tony
But the media and police use drones now, i think they are here well and truly to stay.
adam_r
Tony. They do yes. . . but i bet they operate without a PFAW which means technically they are operating illegally. Also any operator is not allowed to fly 50m from a building and 150m from any other vehicle or person
Tony
And yet anyone can buy one unregistered?
adam_r
Yup
Tony
Well i think one way to police this is by restricting the range.......
adam_r
How? I know of systems that have 100km range.... They can be purchase easily and installed fairly easily. To go any further than a couple of miles though starts to get expensive...
Tony
I don't know but i'm sure there's a way..... From what i read/ hear invasion and intrusion of privacy is the biggest complaints regarding drones so if the range is reduced then so is the complaint. SMARTLY
As Adam says: Also any operator is not allowed to fly 50m from a building and 150m from any other vehicle or person So the only way is up !!
adam_r
Nope... There is a height limit of 1000ft for anything below 3.5kg
adam_r
Technically i cannot fly my 3.35m wingspan glider more that 400 ft high and 1000ft away....
Tony
3.35m
adam_r
Yup. I have put pictures og it in my glider thread. 3.35m is small though. Once i move to dorset and get a little more money i have my eye on a 6m span sports glider
Tony
What's the advantage with size, is it easier to glide?
adam_r
Its all about wing loading tony. Small stuff if fun, but the bigger the model gets to more seriously you have to fly it.
