SuperBluebird
My 5 is wandering and a flick to the left and liftoff caused a hefty ongoing left right wobble that I struggled to control. Heres my settings. Thoughts? Front l/r Camber: -0.08 / -0.01 Toe: +0.08/ +0.08 Castor: +4.08/+4.5 Rear l/r Camber: -1.15/_0.58 Toe: +0.1/+0.
adam_r
Your rear camber is a bit of an issue? Also what is going on with your rear toe? The car needs a little toe in. Do you have a print out of your geo? There are some key numbers that are missing
SuperBluebird
Yes I have a print, whats the missing bit?
SuperBluebird
Edit. Owned fron new (2003) 60k on the clock. Replaced all 4 springs in 2013 - (standard ride) after 2 broke. Geometry done at that point. Sits on standard alloys with Avon zv3 all round. I know that reads like an advert, but its not going anywhere. ;-)
Rich
If you have a printout then can you host it somewhere and link it to here?
Tony
The front geometry is...... Dead. All the positions are very light even for OEM suspension, also did they give a reason for the very low castor position?
adam_r
It seems as if the garage doing this has got all 4 wheels pointing flat and forward .. Just looking at the info posted.. This must be awful if not scarey to drive.
Tony
It must be awful..... I hope that OSR camber is -0.58 and not 0.58 which would mean it's positive.
SuperBluebird
I replaced the nearside springs back in 2013, and one of the cams were disturbed, so I got the garage (Mx5 City) to fit the offside pair and full geometry, I asked for no explanation, simply that it be done. Clearly it was, and the pronounced left following my own accidental geometry tuning was corrected. The meandering I put down to worn rears, which I changed recently. This made no difference, so I started to wonder if there was something more amiss, especially having aborted an overtake on a B road, where the sudden tuck left took me by surprise. I went to a local road and tried to work out what was happening. I could see that the nose tucked when committed to a corner - I guess you'd say oversteer, but when having exited the final left, and accelerating in a straight line, i had to correct against someone else coming in the opposite direction who went for an overtake, 45-50 mph ish. And again that flick left and lift off saw the car fishtail through a number of oscillations, with me having to countersteer against each flick. To be honest I was bricking myself. I dug the figures out and came here, looks like it's not a good setup, irrespective of what it actually is 2 years down the line.
adam_r
My advise is either take a trip to WIM (its well worth it) or look up on the website to see any of the affiliated garages are near you. Tony can send the setting over to the garage for them to set. Still i would prefer going to WIM itself as the guys there really know their stuff and you drive home will be 100% fun
Tony
Well thanks ........ No mention of alignment/ geometry i could see on MX5 City's web site?..... But whatever the numbers are poor even for the forgiving OEM settings.

Tony
All that was adjusted was the NSR toe which was bad by the way....... A few other angles haven't been measured and as said those that have are in the wrong position.
Rich
I can barely see that, I've made it easier to read now
Rich
Tony, hasn't the NSF camber been adjusted too?
Tony
Well done...... I can see the final castor balance is poor as well? What we need is this measurement in MM front and rear to compare the correct positions.
