Tony
I would say a bit of both but even i could see the bridge is to low so i fear he's going to get a little more than a telling off.
parthiban
Bit silly, guess he'll argue that he didn't know the height of the vehicle with the cars on top. Plus that bridge doesn't appear to have a sign? Perhaps they should also be considering the pressures the drivers are under to deliver on time, which is probably what took him off the main road in the first place.......... Viking
There's a sign before the bridge stating height 14' in the direction from Snowford hill, but curiously from the other direction the height is 14' 6". And a driver of an HGV should really be knowing what height his vehicle is, shouldn't he? Still, it happens all the time. Bridge near us occasionally has a bus squeezed underneath it when there's a traffic jam.

Sorry but this is incorrect. It pretty much the law that truck /lorry drivers know the height and width of their vehicle before they set off. We had an issue a few years back where a driver didnt measure the height of the truck before he set off to toulouse with a satellite in a container. He hit a bridge at the port and insurance would not cover the damage. https://www.gov.uk/moving-goods-by-road
Tony
A satellite ..... No wonder the insurance company opted for a cop out.... But yes your exactly right the driver must know the height or the entire top deck of the bus gets wiped out.
