rammy
hi, im were a garage in manchester that specialise in honda perforance cars ect now were looking into buying a 3d alignment machine along with the new 2wd dyno that were getting. Theirs soo many different options with different prices, just wanted your opinion on whats the best buy really. We have had snap-on in our unit today to demo their John Bean 3d aligner and it seems like a good kit. they have a few different options which is the 3d lite (base model) and 3d ex2 or something like that... which is the top model. theirs about £4k-£6k price different and really the only difference is the software, the machines technology and reading are all the same. We want to use it for general car geo setups and mainly use it for the market that suits our business (performance cars, so setting them up for track ect ect) is it worth the extra £4k - £6k just for a few extra features in the software? we should be having Hunters coming through Pro-Align soon to show us what they can do for us. Hunter say they are better than john bean and john bean say were better. Whats your opinion on these machines and which one will suit better. thanks in advance!! SMARTLY
I'm guessing if you are setting cars up non-standard for performance purposes then your knowledge will be as important as the machine. Are you asking these vendors if their machines contain settings for performance purposes? If not a couple bits of string will be just as good unless you have that knowledge ............. Tony
Hello I tried them all before wim opened it's doors. Fact is in our industry information is power so the Hunter DSP811 running winalign software with additional advanced handling software and sprung chassis targets. It gathers the usual initial data, displayed in 3D which can be rotated in 3D making it a great visual tool for the customer, this can then be converted into bar-graphs for adjusting the chassis. Other features...... 25K cars in the databank Run-out-compensation works so well you can even clamp on hub caps On set-up the software checks and zero's the ramps horizon Information/ illustration of adjustments Video of how to do each adjustment It will display what tools you need and what size Aftermarket kits available if an angle is not adjustable including the part numbers Additional information Toe-Out-On-Turns Maximum steering angle Tyre condition Steering-Bump steer value's on bump-droop Wheelbase and track width measurments Frame angle Ride height measurments Virtual view, live ride height values, great for setting coilovers Symmetry measurements/ set back Track circle Curb to curb Front/ rear center-line offset Body center-line off-set Body roll angle Front/ rear body overhang And probably more that i've forgotten....... andyelcomb
Its a pity it doesn't do corner weights as well - then you'd REALLY have it all and quite probably a large market in race car setups.
Tony
It does but i don't have the time to corner weight on the geo ramp.
