mv6danny
Hi I have a vauxhall omega and i have strange tire wear and the car pulls to the left. The tires are wearing on the outside on the n/s/f and the inside on the o/s/r. The other 2 tires seem to be wearing normally. I am convinced this is a geometry problem. I live in swindon wiltshire and had the geometry done by a garage here last year. The car was pulling to the left when i took it in. and still doing it when i got the car back. They told me this was due to tire wear. The tire have been changed since and is still doing the same. Tonight i had a blow out on the o/s/r. When i removed the wheel the tread across the tire was ok across 75% of the tire but the inside was worn out and the edge to inside side wall was totaled (down to the cord) which is obviously what caused the tire to blow. Can you recommend a place near to me that can set my car up properly and not fob me off with a load of bull. Or should i just drive to the wim garage to get it done properly? Thanks
Rich
Did you get a printout of the geometry you had previously? Where is your location as well, if you're too far from WIM have a look at the other centres they are associated with - http://wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tyre-fitting-centres.php
liner33
He is in Swindon ER, I can recommend Jez at Horsham Developments, Chieveley but there may be someone closer with a Hunter
Rich
Just seen that, too early! Doesn't look like there are any on the map, which are that close. Have a look on http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ or take the trip to see Tony
Tony
The printout will speak volumes if you have one?
mv6danny
I dont have a print out. Think i might need to make the trip down. not that far i dont think. How much is the geometry set up?
mv6danny
according to the map the closest one to me is  Carson Tyre and Autocare  2 Lancaster Park Bowerhill Industrial Estate Melksham Wiltshire SN12 6TT  Will they do the proper job like you would at wim? I dont want to go there and not have it done properly
Tony
They are only on our map for fitting tyres.... Problem is we have different settings for the Omega's camber. As far as cost is concerned, front/ rear toe and front camber is £60+ vat, also if we need to move the sub-frame it goes up to £95+
Rich
You won't regret the trip mate and get the job done properly first time with those who know what they're doing
mv6danny
Well its going to be money well spent. So looks like i will be coming down to see you guys. The last time i had it done it cost me £80 and that was money down the drain. The car has been lowered aswell so thats probably going to make some difference to the settings i would have thought. I will get some part worn tires put on this weekend, then make the trip down the following weekend. Once all sorted i will then get new tires fitted. Would i need to call you to book it in or just turn up. Also I think my drop links are gone so should i replace those before i come to you? And might it be an idea for me to change the top mounts on the front struts too? Is there anything else you can think of that might need changing before i come down? Cheers Danny
Tony
The drop links don't matter to me, just be sure the idler arm is ok and the front bushing on the lower wishbones.
mv6danny
Ok. The lower arms were changed in may last year. I had lemforder ones put on and are still under warranty so should be ok. I also had the rear bushes changed on the sub frame mounting. I will check the idler arm over the weekend. Do i need to ring and book an appointment or just turn up. Thanks

mv6danny
Will it make any difference if I have 235/40/18 tires on the front and 245/40/18 on the rear?
Tony
No because it's the rim we measure off.
