  1. Cheers CamInHead..really helpfull article.......
  2. Hi Tony...the tyres arent for the Honda they are for my Lexus 225/40/18 So i would really need to spend about £1--1.5 K to get the Honda Type-R fully adjustable then..? They are meant to be very very good on the road with the OEM setup and have plenty of grip.....just looking for your opinion as.....well she will be setup by WIM..... As for the misses...it was on the cards and well..move on lifes to short and plenty more fish....
  3. Hiya Rich...yes matey getting it done on the insurance..im with directline...they have a vandalism cover on there fully comp insurance...just need to get a crime reference number and SO THEY SAY (he says with baited breath) it doesnt affect your "No claims bonus"......we will see... And yep moving again...this time to london road Apsley....getting away from the misses... Roll on next weekend....
  4. Well ive decided to finally get round to doing the "respray" of my current car (Lexus IS200 sport) (Wont be for a couple of weeks) as im moving also..... and then she will be up for sale.!!! .............................. Now...............when she goes ive been looking to get a used Honda accord type-R..dont know why but ive always had a fondness for them and well she sounds great when you scream the nuts off her.and you can get a decent one in good condition at a very good price ( between £3K---and ----£5500 dependent on age miles etc........The reason i have posted this up is A. just wanted general opinions B.to ask Tony B about the chassis set up in regards to standard ( how is the suspension geo and general setup ) and also perhaps looking to do the odd track day (he says and he hasnt even brought one yet) and also upgrade the suspension arms, links, dampers, springs etc.... So if anyone has one or just have a general opinions or know what to look out for ..faults etc...... please feel free to post up..... To Tony...Could you give me some prices for some tyres......Dunlop sport maxx (japan) and Falken 452.....
  5. Am I correct in saying that tyres have "used by" dates? Like 5 years from manufacture? Yeah i think you are right Mark...a kinda "best before date"
  6. I could be reading a magazine wrong but they say that the Buggati veyron tyres are Michelin "one off" RFT ...and cost £5k a pop... hope that comes with an alloy wheel aswell................
  7. Dont tell me the size is going to be "HUGE" im guessing at 335/35 "17" .....? close?
  8. Aparantly they are also going to crack down on "cheap" manafactured tyres....they will all have to adhere to new and very strict guidlines outlined in the post above.....
  9. OOHhhhhh very nice.... Wish i had the time to come down.... Arnt those tyres ( ferrari ones ) "The old" Pirelli Pzero asymmetrico`s .....
  10. Very impresive..... .BUT wait until the pencil pushing euro buro BEEP start poking there noses in...ALL cars will have run flat tyres in the end ( being safe "n" all ) Also its now going to be illegal to have semi track day tyres on cars driven on public roads.... I.E like TOYO R888..Dunlop Direzza.etc... all tyres will have to display rating figures for... Rolling resistance...(fuel efficiency) external noise... and wet grip.... what a load of old BEEP.....Like anyone is going to go to a tyre fitters and ask all these things.... So kiss good bye to haveing fun with your cars.... .. All because of the PC brigade.............
  11. Yes mate mine was with the TOYO`s ... ive noticed also that when you push hard on them when cornering they give up and make the car really under steer..just wash out in corners....not so much a bad point......it just doesnt make the car really point in the corners...... IMHO i think the TOYO`s are more happy and far better in the wet....they really are grippy....
  12. Yeah the problem i had was with the TOYO`s on mine where ...well how to put it very scary and nervous at the back...almost like i had a flat tyre....this became worse when doing speed....it was almost like it was fish tailing.... they are better on the front but ive got them running at 37-38 psi just to stiffen the sidewall up a bit....you can tell how soft the sidewall is by pressing them with your finger/thum ( well compared to the previous Dunlop Sport Maxx and the current Pirelli p zero rosso`s.......) Im due to get a new pair of tyres soon so not really certain what ones to go for..? Bridgestone potenza RE050 Dunlop sport maxx (japan) Dunlop sport maxx GT...as ive heard some really great reviews of them...... or Good year eagle F1 asymetric thinga me jigg....lol Falken 452`s........
  13. Here`s one for you Eddie..... http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/113759-8eut-sale.html Flipping awsome R33.....
  14. Thats fooking georgeous Aztecbandit... ive never been given a spin in one...be great if you could let me know when you are heading to WIM i would love to pop down and see her in the flesh.....
  15. Must admit there has been alot and i mean HUNDRED`s of people on the american lexus site( MY IS) forum about the dreaded inner tyre wear problems......i would post the thread up on the forum but cant seem to get the link to work...even though im a basic member on there.....
  16. I quote what Tony B said and many people say ..( "If you deviate from the OEM spec tyres then its ""BUYER BEWARE TIME" ) Like you say Caminhead...who would thought buying some black rubber stuff for your car could be so fraught...
  17. Exactly how my car felt after having the TOYO T1-R `s fitted to the rear of my lex.....you could do with swapping with someone who has some Bridgestone tyres as these are meant to be far harder sidewall and should give you a more positive drive.... all be it with added road roar...
  18. Good luck Mark, all the best for the future.
  19. Hi Annes sorry to hear about your problems....From what i know is that "some" cars seem to have a problem with the Goodyear Asymmetrics more so with running "18" wheels.... On my IS200 i got some Toyo T1-R fitted ( "18" wheels also ) on the rear and the car felt awfull almost like the tyers where flat....I think its because the sidewalls are to soft for the car....
  20. Hi matey...i have a Lexus IS200 with a "knock" at the front like yourself.when going over uneven/bumpy road and also going over speed bumps.( It drives me nuts because i can hear it all the time ) ..Have a look at the drop links, suspension top mounts,or also could be the shock absorber.....with me im affraid its a case of looking and replacing things to get to the bottom of things.... I hope you get to the bottom of the problem matey....
  21. I really want to own a Skyline but i would have to sell an arm and a leg to insure one...
  22. Yes matey ive seen that car on pistonheads its flippin georgeous.. ..wish i had £22,000 its got a very good spec aswell...
  23. Go for a R33 GTS-T Eddie...ok they are not quite a GTR but still very quick ( Tubo`d ) and got enough boot space etc and will be a bit cheaper on the insurance... or you are still looking at at least £20,000 for a good R33 GTR... Have a look on Pistonheads they have a few nice ones on there at the moment..... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?...amp;o=p&pc=
