Most of the ones you see outside halfrauds matey will do the job free for you there and then, but they all claim it back through your insurance for doing it? -

Aztecbandit i would love to have a Skyline really, really love "em"............but................for some reason the insurance says "NO"....the Accord type-R is no more a year more for me to insure than my lexus...............go figure.??????? :nowink: Thats quite suprising on the insurance front mate, i've just insured mine again and its cost me £463 fully comp which is about £46 more than my is200 s/c cost so quite happy with that Never thought Marks & Spencer would have insured me with a skyline, but they have including the basic mods i have fitted Its not that they wont insure me on one..but that the insurance is way to high...the extra to insure the Accord Type-R is only an extra £90 a year....compared to my Lexus IS200.... Did you get free M&S vouchers..ive heard the foods quite nice...... Yeh i shop at M+S anyway so the £50 voucher will come in handy its a shame they dont have there own petrol station as i'd fill it up again -

In answer to your questions * No problem for us doing a Geo but there is a particular method for the HICAS * Staggered wheels are common on high end marques * See how you get on with the Michelin's, failing them i see quite a few SL on Toyo Thanks for that Tony
-
Just fitted a new one so all should be good now, will just need to get the geo checked, if i grabbed the wheel at a quarter to 3 position i could move the wheel back and too about an inch eachway, so when under pressure of driving it probably would of had a lot more movement? Feels a whole lot better now though and now feels like it goes round corners
-
Yeh i thought the same, the track rod ball joint thats gone i can move side to side by a good 5mm all round, and think the only thing holding it in place is whats left of the rubber boot on the joint  Just got to wait for the part now so i can get it off asap?
-
I'd go and take it over to the chap that mot'd it but he's 90 miles away it was only mot'd 4 weeks ago and by the look of the joint its been like it for a while, its got a ripped ball joint boot and its full of sand and dirt! the thing is with it being the track rod end and it pops out of the joint, i lose steering and could be quite messy when the wheel turns inwards at speed
-
Think i've just found the problem with the steering? The NSF track rod has colapsed and the ball joint is rattling around in its socket How it passed its MOT the other week i'll never know? (must be a good mate of the seller? ) Just cant believe someone would pass it off as being safe, and its proabably the worst worn one i've seen for years and suprised the ball joint hasnt popped out ot the socket yet  So just ordered a new one to replace it and hopefully it'll feel a lot better when i corner

It's just the pic's.... What we don't want is the camber moving to positive (outer wheel) because the tyre contact patch is reduced. Yes i think i see what you mean mate, on the pic your on about it looks like alot of the tyre isnt on the tarmac, and sitting at an angle thats lifting the inner edge reducing the contact patch with the tarmac So does that mean it would need more of a negative camber position to correct it? Probably silly question? but i like to learn about these things and find it quite interesting

Just thought i'd ask, My skyline has the HICAS 4 wheel steering system fitted and wondered if it causes any problems with the geometry setup of the car? Went out in it tonight and in a straight line its and animal but feels a bit unsteady at speed, But when you corner it feels quite unstable and doesnt seem to give a nice positive turn? The car has 8.4" wide front wheels with 225/40/18 tyres, and the rear has 9.5" wide wheels and 255/35/18 tyres fitted, all 4 tyres are michelin pilot sports in good condition, what would you guys reccomend for this type of car? Does the wheel size being offset (wider on the rear than the front) cause any problems? Thanks for your thoughts
-
Was just looking at the angle of the front wheels going through the pic's and seems to have more camber going into a right hander than a left? but that could be the pic's and me not knowing a great deal about it but does look good in the pic's
-
Was just playing spot the WIM decal and found it Looks like he was having quite a bit of fun there and good pic's too
-
yeh i'm more like SmokinBandit now Hopefully it'll have a bit more power soon

Nice one matey your motor looks just right now and well balanced how you finding the Falken 452's mate? might try a pair on the rear of the skyline next but in a 265/35/18? Mines got Michelin pilot sports on at the moment and there very grippy in the dry but lose traction in 3rd in the wet
