Rich
The Mondeo had a bad leak as well that I could never sort as water used to get trapped around a seal and just work it's way in. I thought I would have leak free motoring with this car! I sealed everything above the light like the rubber seal and boot lid strut mounting brackets so I don't think it's coming from them. It's got to be coming in from the light unit. It may just be a case of the nuts have come loose and it's getting in from a small gap. The leak is nothing like it used to be, the spare wheel well just has a thin covering of water rather than a few inches! I already used talc before, which helped me trace it and as I didn't clean it all off from before there are some trails in it again
SMARTLY
Try stanley knife or craft knife to cot off what you can, hairdryer ( try it I can remember somebody saying it helps ), WD40, petrol or carb cleaner.
Rich
Yes I'll give those ago. The only concern I have is I don't want to damage the rubber seal, either with a knife or chemicals.
SMARTLY
You might have to if you are going to fix it, as always test on a hidden area first
Rich
Had a quick look last night and there is water getting in from the OS as well, around the actual boot seal though. Gonna have to strip the whole boot out now to let it dry out
