phipck
all well and good saying that, but not everyone who would be in the teaching roll would be able to manage the punishment apropriatly. At 9 years old I was hit in school by a teacher, i am ambidexrous and needed to hold something in my left hand while writing else i struggled to coordinate very well. The substitute teacher, the husbound of the head of year, didnt take well to this unusual practice and decided to take the pebble i was holding away. I asked for it back to which the teacher got stern and fiery, other children said the same that i needed the stone and we all got shouted at in a rage. He put the pebble back on my desk and when i picked it up he struck me across the side of the head with the palm of his hand, i went to the ground like a sack of spuds, my glasses were broken and the pebble was thrown by the teacher across the room, hitting another child. Some people are NOT capable of bistowing apropriate punishment, some people are NOT capable of understanding what should be punishable, some teachers should not be in the privalaged and responcible possition they hold and the idea of bringing back any form of physical punishment makes me uncomfortable for when i have children. Rich
I'm talking about a slap on the backside though not around the head. I remember during infant and junior school other kids getting slapped either with the teachers hand or slipper. Some of it was over nothing, I remember one boy did PE in the clothes he wore to school instead of changing and lied to the teacher it was his PE kit. She grabbed his arm so he couldn't run and slapped his arse several times!!
