The weather sucks. Ive had to put off 2 cars this month due to bad conditions

It's more to do with time for me, I've not used the G220 for over a year. I hope it still works as it's from the first batch!!

The good old first batch lol. i know 3 people with first batch G220 and only one has had a problem.

hopefully yours will be fine

Hopefully...if not I hope Megs replace it as it's a known fault. Trouble is it's not the type of machine you use often if it's just hobby.

I put it on a weigh bridge in a metal merchants.

removed

the underlay/sounddeadening ( not the stick on gumf ),

spare wheel

air con

changed

now running coil overs instead of the standard suspension

17" alloys rather than the 15" standards

and a 3" diameter single box exhaust in stainless steel

They are the main changes. i know thhe underlay weighed around 15kg, aircon 20-25kg

What about getting some lightweight alloys?

Ive got my eye on some wheels, but they are quite a way down on my list due to cost of the wheel and rubber i want for it

the carbon bug is starting to take hold i think so hopefully that will do me justice

I looking at some adjustable TCA's at the moment but they are mainly for adding negitive camber..... I need them to add positive. I have been in contact with the supplier and he says that they can make one for me for adding more + rather than - but wanted to know how much i needed to pull it in by. Well, i have no idea, and doubt im going to have the cash to find out before i take it off the road end of the month :D

  • 1 month later...

Should be getting my new uprated gearbox before christmas

Started the car for the first time in 4 weeks today aswell, turned over alittle slow and nearly didnt start but she sprung into life so i left it ticking over until warm to give the battery alittle charge

Cool, what gearbox is it?

Where is the car stored in a garage, do you have a trickle charger connected? Is it ok to let the engine run on idle, especially a cossie engine?

Its a bara uprated item.

Do you know dave moss's escort cossie.... aka YUM, its the box outof that.

Unfortunatly the car is only on my drive....al be it under a cover.

No trickle charger. my last one did absolutly nothing so i turned it into a hammer and bashed it against the wall lol

As for the idling.....it cant be anywosre than being stuck in traffic lol. i gave it fast idle until 50c was seen in coolant temp, then let it normal idle under 85 when the fans kicked in.

This cossie?

Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!

I thought trickle chargers were suppose to be good, obviously not! lol

When you said letting it tick over I thought that was from cold but obviously fast idle is better...I'm sure you know what you're doing anyway

On another good note, got my IAW software working today so i can finaly see what my car is doing.

Now, whilst im in a car mood, this weekend involves droping the rear beam off to give it a clean up and replace any needed bushes then a trip to WIM when its back on the road next year :D

will mainly be polys and solids. but going to retain standard bushes on the trailing arms if i can get hold of some as they go for big money :D

Not getting powerflex ones are you or do you have the bushes already? Why are the trailing arm bushes so expensive?

They are already polybushed, but i will asses the condition and replace as nessercary.

I think the standard bushes are around £80 for genuine ones. ford dont make them anymore and obviosuly they have the cosworth tax on them lol.

GGR sell them for £80 each ( bearing in mind you need 4 :sick01: ) ( these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GGR1092-Ford-Coswort...id=p3286.c0.m14 )

Ive have been told that the standard type are spherical bearings and much better than the poly poo ^_^

  • 2 weeks later...

Well for those of you who are interested.

Here is the new purchase

DSC_0025.jpg

to the untrained eye it will look just like a cosworth 4x4 gearbox.

A few pictures later, maybe things will become clearer

If its still unclear, you looking at a big tooth, straight cut gearkit B)

Comparision between standard and mine

barabox.jpg

frozen input shaft, uprated VC,stepper gears, transfer chain and syncros and solid alloy cradle mounts

Next up the rear beam is coming off in replacement of either a beam and diff from a 2wd or by an adjustable beam :snorkle:

Wow, there's some difference between those 2 B) I won't pretend I know about gearboxes as I don't, so what difference will this make...quicker gear changes?

Had a look at that ebay link, £80 a bush, that's robbery! :snorkle:

Cheers.

There should be alittle difference between changing times, but its more about the amount of power they can handle as the standard box isnt realy that capable of taking over 350bhp.

I think 6degree rear beam will be the next of the list after the cams :(
