  1. brilliant cheers tony, he'll be chuff'd i'll get him to ring you during the week
  2. sorry for hi-jacking this happened too a mate of mines wheels, unfortunately these wheels are no longer available, do you think they could be repairable? Rear Wheel Front Wheel, this is worst of the 2
  3. Its going to whine like a freshly spanked baby, and in a stripped out car thats going to be pretty loud lol. I dont mind though, the feeling the car gives when i touch the loud pedal is well worth it !
  4. Tony, you the man. Thank you
  5. It will on a standard powersteering rack which if i remember correctly is 2.4turns lock to lock. Can i ask why with polys you would reduce the amount of toe on the front ? The rear will have original type serphical bushes.
  6. Cheers. There should be alittle difference between changing times, but its more about the amount of power they can handle as the standard box isnt realy that capable of taking over 350bhp. I think 6degree rear beam will be the next of the list after the cams
  7. Sierra Sapphire cosworth. Mods Geo wise will be gaz coilovers adjustable TCAs Adjustable rear beam ( for toe and camber) adjustable top mounts ( for front) Weekend toy with trackdays. Cheers Tony. These are setting that ive been told to try out. Unfortunatly i dont know the original settings, and was unsure if the person that told me was talking out of his rear lol cheers for the replies
  8. Im going to give you 2 lots of geo settings. Can you tell me how the cars handling would change between the 2 please 1) Front: 1.5° negative camber, 2mm toe-in. Caster as close to 3’30° as you can get. Rear: 1.5° negative camber, up to 3mm toe-in 2) Front: 3° negative camber*, 2mm toe-in. Caster as close to 3’30° as you can get. Rear: 2.25° negative camber, 3mm toe-in. Thanking you.
  9. Well for those of you who are interested. Here is the new purchase to the untrained eye it will look just like a cosworth 4x4 gearbox. A few pictures later, maybe things will become clearer If its still unclear, you looking at a big tooth, straight cut gearkit Comparision between standard and mine frozen input shaft, uprated VC,stepper gears, transfer chain and syncros and solid alloy cradle mounts Next up the rear beam is coming off in replacement of either a beam and diff from a 2wd or by an adjustable beam
  10. I was beginning to have withdrawl symptoms with no horror of the week stories lol
  11. They are already polybushed, but i will asses the condition and replace as nessercary. I think the standard bushes are around £80 for genuine ones. ford dont make them anymore and obviosuly they have the cosworth tax on them lol. GGR sell them for £80 each ( bearing in mind you need 4 ) ( these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GGR1092-Ford-Coswort...id=p3286.c0.m14 ) Ive have been told that the standard type are spherical bearings and much better than the poly poo
  12. will mainly be polys and solids. but going to retain standard bushes on the trailing arms if i can get hold of some as they go for big money
  13. Ford state, that aslong as it topped up with the ford antifreeze in the correct mix, that it will last at least 10years but could last the life of the car. It was checked at the last service ( i normaly do them my self, but im lazy now so had it done for me.... oonly cost me £15 more than doing it myself lol ) and it registered safe to -15 so im happy with that I will try and dig out my handbook and quote it
  14. Yep, thats Daves car.... or was i should say On another good note, got my IAW software working today so i can finaly see what my car is doing. Now, whilst im in a car mood, this weekend involves droping the rear beam off to give it a clean up and replace any needed bushes then a trip to WIM when its back on the road next year
  15. I must admit to never having tested my coolant. Its still the orignal stuff in there from the factory 6 years ago lol
  16. Its a bara uprated item. Do you know dave moss's escort cossie.... aka YUM, its the box outof that. Unfortunatly the car is only on my drive....al be it under a cover. No trickle charger. my last one did absolutly nothing so i turned it into a hammer and bashed it against the wall lol As for the idling.....it cant be anywosre than being stuck in traffic lol. i gave it fast idle until 50c was seen in coolant temp, then let it normal idle under 85 when the fans kicked in.
  17. Should be getting my new uprated gearbox before christmas Started the car for the first time in 4 weeks today aswell, turned over alittle slow and nearly didnt start but she sprung into life so i left it ticking over until warm to give the battery alittle charge
  18. my first port of call would be with the ignition system. I can admit to not knowing a thing about the A-sieres. Is it on points system? If the issue was cause by a heavy breathing engine ( i.e blow by via the rings or guides ) then the combustion air would be going through thge breather system. On an engine that age, no doubt the breather is vent to atmosphere. try and locate it and, if you can thry and gauge the amount of air that is coming out as obviously this will change when the idling issue occurs again if it is down to blow-by is it carbed ? have you stripped it down or replaced it ? the floats maybe sticking or the jets blocked
  19. What made you want to do a compression test in the first place ? What problems are you having? Also, how are you doing the test ? how many times are you turning the engine over to get the reading
  20. Ive got my eye on some wheels, but they are quite a way down on my list due to cost of the wheel and rubber i want for it the carbon bug is starting to take hold i think so hopefully that will do me justice I looking at some adjustable TCA's at the moment but they are mainly for adding negitive camber..... I need them to add positive. I have been in contact with the supplier and he says that they can make one for me for adding more + rather than - but wanted to know how much i needed to pull it in by. Well, i have no idea, and doubt im going to have the cash to find out before i take it off the road end of the month
  21. I put it on a weigh bridge in a metal merchants. removed the underlay/sounddeadening ( not the stick on gumf ), spare wheel air con changed now running coil overs instead of the standard suspension 17" alloys rather than the 15" standards and a 3" diameter single box exhaust in stainless steel They are the main changes. i know thhe underlay weighed around 15kg, aircon 20-25kg
  22. Just watching that has irritated me so much i just shouted at the mrs as she wouldnt shut up lol
  23. I weighed the old girl this morning. im 45-50kg down on standard.. now 1330kg never the less, still damn heavy
  24. Cheers for that Tony. Dont think im going to be trying that anytime soon as i dont have corner scales, But atleast now i understand
