Rich
Tony, what do you make of this thread - Link Now I had 17's on my escort but it wasn't lowered, I had no wear issues at all. There is another thread on there about the inside tyres wearing by around an inch cos it's been lowered 35mm, do you think it is right? Tony
The explanation regarding "Scrub" is incorrect..... I agree it can be replaced by using spacers but this only improves the handling not the tyre wear. - 30mm on the Mondeo will move the camber negative around 45', if you fit camber adjusters then the scrub can be adjusted since by lifting the wheel you are effectively moving the contact patch
Rich
If spacers are used then this pushes the wheel outwards, so for example an average offset for a Ford wheel is ET35, 10mm spacers would make this ET25 so I thought it would actually make the handling worse? That thread was for MK5 and 6 escorts not mondeo's, so does the same still apply regarding negative camber? If the car had 17" wheels and was lowered 35mm would this cause any major issues with tyre wear as they seem to think it does? I'd imagine the chassis of the escort is similar to the mondeo and mine is lowered 30mm on 17" wheels and I haven't noticed any major wear. However, the offset of my wheels are ET42 so could this help compensate for the negative camber?

No the ET25 would keep the SC near to the centre of the tyres pivotal axis, although the weight distribution (camber) will be devastating.
