Online MOT check

Recommended Posts

My dealer just called me to tell me my MOT and service was due (fair enough, I knew it was coming up around now) and told me it was expiring on 17th December. However while they were on the phone they checked online and it said my MOT expires on 19th April 2015!

I need to check the sheet when I get home but I'm sure it was done in December, plus their own records say the same. Has anyone else seen anything like this? This is a little confusing!

Go online yourself at https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk and put your car details in yourself and see what that says. They may have had finger trouble.

Yep checked that already, see the same thing myself. I know there's the other check which is the proper one (https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status) which I'll check tonight against the MOT certificate.

All a bit concerning..... How's this error going to rank with the automatic AMPI system and police in general?

I assume you meant ANPR (?) but it's a good question - on this occasion it's in my favour but there's nothing to say the error couldn't go the other way as well and show that a car is not taxed or MOT'd when in reality it is.

The second site though is the proper one and that one is correct, so hopefully they'll iron out the issues soon enough.
