  1. I think the point is that with the RFt's having stiff side walls to support the tyre, there is no 'give' that you get in a normal tyre to absorb the shock of the impact. Therefore the complete force is transferred directly to the rim, without the cushoning effect of a normal tyre compressing the sidewall. The rim is failing because it cannot take that level of shock over time. It's execerbated by the inside of the rim being unsupported, i.e. no spokes supporting the edge of the rim to the hub, therefore the inner part of the rim is flexing, (Imagine the bottom of the rim going flat on a bump) this weakens/work hardens the rim and will eventually lead to failure. RFT's are a good idea in theory, although it is not the answer in itself, but needs to be looked at to include, the rim and suspension. h
  2. Poor Finn. This was going to Bedford last Saturday! http://www.planetmx5.com/forum/viewtopic.p...;p=71926#p71926 h

But it has traction control, it's called the Accelerator! Only problem is the biological computer that operates it! H
  5. The main issue seems to be rule of the right. France has the same issues, although I think they repealed it a roundabouts, but people don't know, so you have to be careful about people entering the roundabout! h
  6. What's with that centre console though? Surely that would get in the way? h
  7. think you added a letter in your link dude, this quoted one should work thanks, thought that was whilst the video was Being set up at Photobucket. Now I can't find by delete post button! H

Can they do glass and gel coat repairs? h
  10. The vid I took the timings from was my last session. Timings seem to be pretty constant with no traffic, losing time when coming off the loud pedal to let people past, the 1.21 is the lap where both the Ma5da racers went past in formation, I was watching them pull ahead, not concentrating on pushing the Hornet! h
  11. I have video that I'm working my way through. One session I have looked at time wise, I have one lap each of 1.15, 1.16, 8 laps of 1.17, 2 at 1.18, 1 at 1.19 1 at 1.20 and 1.21. Quickly looked at some video of Lazza , with a passenger he did a 1.15 followed by a 1.12 H
  12. Lazza has his write up here: http://www.planetmx5.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6574 There is also some video from LoT which shows two other 5's that were there, both ex Ma5da racers, and at about 3 mins I get overtaken! h

  15. Silverstone Stowe Circuit 15th Jan. Well I'm absoulutly knackered! Track was damp to start with but dried through the day, it stayed dry apart from a short time where there was very light rain. My first time at Stowe start finish straight leads to hairpin, wshere the pit lane enters leading into a sweeping hairpin with a slight kink out to the back straight, end of the back strainght leads into a series of right/lefts leading back on to the main straight. The last right hander has been resurfaced with extra sticky tarmac and you can turnin 5 mph faster than the other corners! At the start of the day, these corners were very slippy, I span on my second lap as the tyres were still cold. (That's my excuse anyway!) We checked tyre pressures and corrected them to 29psi. A dry line started coming out in the late morning, by afternoon to all intents and purposes the track was dry. The Hornet. The track day was run by Lotus on Track with some people there from Honda on Track. As a consequence the Hornet was the slowest car there and being overtaken by everyone else! However in the corners everything was very equal. The Hornet, not having been used for a couple of months, was superb, never missed a beat, and is still soo much fun to drive. Photo's and video to follow. h
  16. When I saw the thread title, I thought Tony had take the Lotus on an 'agricultural tril! h

  18. Looks like some soft coral that has come adrift!
  19. I wonder if the insurance companies would view it as a modification? h
  20. ]High Vis Jacket One for each seat in the car. Whistle, see below. Also, I'd have the recovery vehicle parked before the vehicle being repaired, that way an empty vehicle gets hit and not the car being worked on. Also, had to chage the charger belt once on the side of the motorway, traffic wombles turned up with the instructions "If you hear a whistle, dive over the barrier", one of the wombles spent his time watching the traffic whistle at the ready, incase someone decided the hardshoulder was the best place to drive. Their vehicle was placed before mine on the hard shoulder providing a barrier for any wayward vehicle! h
  21. Would have thought it unlikely to be fuel filter if there was a one way valve then that should affect all gears. Get a reading off the OBD, that will show all sensor faults H
  22. The Hornet has a busy start to the year. Jan 15th Silverstone, Stowe Circuit Jan 30th Brands (Cancelled December outing, rescheduled due to bad weather) Feb 5th Bedford GT Reports and video to follow! I will be sprinting again this year, but doing fewer, preferring to do more trackdays. Bring on the fun! h
  23. Nice cinephotography, nice music, but a bike with no saddle! h
  24. I thought it was going off the front with only the one rear tie down! H
